Vintage Elegance With Glam Dreams

So I was in Opium Evolution‘s Gatsby Show that did three showings over two weekends and we had so many guests come on all three days!  It was such a fun show to watch and to walk in and being a vintage fashion fan, I really had a great time.  I thank all the guests who took the time out to come to watch the show.

I wore a total of four outfits and one of them was this lovely gown made by sandytpr Lysette of Glam Dreams called “Gatsby“.  It comes with the hair accessory, gloves and the fur shawl that I am wearing here.

This was the first show I walked since I came back and it made me realize one more time how much I loved modeling…but more so than that, how much I loved being part of shows together with my fellow friend models.  We would laugh, say silly jokes, make fun of each other, help out when somebody needs help…that is the best part of being in shows and I truly enjoy the time I spend.  Yes, even if it was 4am in the morning my time!

For that, I thank all my model friends for the fun they give me and for being there when I need help or just somebody to talk to. ❤

Last Two Days of SAVIAD Spring Fair 2014!

SAVIAD Spring Fair is almost over ending on March 31.  So two more days to go shopping if there is something you still want!

For this lovely dress from Solidea Folie, I picked yellow out of many colours.  It was just a coincidence that I picked yellow because in a colour test I just did on facebook, the test said I was yellow.  I wonder how accurate these tests are and I’m not trusting them 100% but yellow doesn’t sound too far off.  😛  I do like yellow very much (as you can see here) and I do like pretty colours. 🙂  And the car I just got in real life is yellow too!

And the mask I wore here was a item I got from a gacha I just happened to run into.  Gachas have become very popular in SL and it comes as a pleasant surprise that this fun real life game have been accepted and enjoyed so widely by the SL residents  The only difference is here in SL, it’s the grown ups that enjoy gachas and you can get pretty cool items too!

2014.3.22 SolideaFolie Blooming Spring_4_012 It’s this time of the year that I start to feel light, happy, joyful and playful. 😀  In real life, I’d want to go outside, take my car for a spin and going to the park with my dogs becomes a true pleasure.  I must say, during winter, walking the dogs is a chore especially if the weather is bad.  lol  It’s probably not a coincidence that I also just got my new car which is yellow and it looks nice to be driving it in pretty spring colours.  🙂 2014.3.22 SolideaFolie Blooming Spring_4_011 And in Second Life, my wardrobe starts to get more playful with lots of pretty colours too.  I get inspired a lot by pretty dresses with happy colours so it was almost natural that I got attracted to this beautiful gown by Mila Tatham of Solidea Folie.  It was so perfect for my mood that day.  I wanted to style it so it will be “fluffy and light”…of course, not in a literal sense but in a “feeling” sort of meaning. AZUL, Rita In Champagne

When I came back to SL, I was living in my free Linden home for about a week while I was thinking what I should do for a more permanent home.  I lived in a private island for a very long time and I loved the privacy and the freedom to terraform the island to what ever I wanted.  So at one point, I had a medieval village.  At another time, I had a modern house with a beautiful garden.  I loved how I could make anything and change it when I got bored.  But this time, the situation was a bit different.  I needed a house that I can feel comfortable in immediately.  I didn’t think I had the luxury of time to terraform, build a house and decorate it but I still wanted to live in a beautiful environment.

One day, Aris came home all excited.  Apparently, he had gone wandering around different sims and somehow ended up in the sim where the Rose Theater was located.  He then told me that there are furnished apartments we can rent there and he wanted me to come see it.  I fell in love right away and we decided to make this place our home.  So here we are in the beautiful sim owned and built by Kaya Angel called the Angel Manor Estate.  We love strolling around the beautiful garden where there is a riding stable, clay pigeon shooting, a mini golf course, a sanctuary where we can sit down for a nice tea party, an art gallery…there is just so much to enjoy and explore.  We even found a bath like the ancient Roman bath in the basement of the palace!  I am sure we haven’t even seen everything yet.

Another thing I am loving is that being a resident of this place, I can rez my pose stand anywhere on this vast estate!  So today, I decided to use this grand staircase to shoot a picture for my blog post for the lovely Rita gown in champagne colour from Azul.  It seemed perfect for this elegant gown.

Now if only I didn’t get lost every time I take a stroll…  These are the moments I curse my horrible sense of direction in both RL and SL. 😦

Desir ‘Mia Dress’ and Elysium Shiu Skin

I don’t have a photo studio yet so I decided to take a stroll in the beautiful Angel Manor Estate sims and take location shots.

This is a dress that is so elegant and delicate that I almost feel like I am wearing a dress made of feathers.  The vertical lines of this dress give it the simplicity that I like too.

I have mood swings when it comes to fashion and this couple of days, I’ve been extremely attracted to elegant dresses that are simple and don’t come with many parts or components.  The same goes for makeup.  Lately, I am not in the mood to wear lots of strong colours so here, I kept my makeup very simple too.

The skin I am wearing is a new skin from Elysium where creator, Aleida Rhode, made Asian skins for the first time.  It captures the essence of Asian features and I absolutely loved it!  When I started to model, I searched for Asian skin for a very long time but was never able to find one that I liked…until this one!  Congratulations Ale for a great skin launch!

Classic Elegance & Beauty, “Dotia” by Tres Beau

Tres Beau has a beautiful new dress called “Dotia” which I fell in love with right away.  It is truly a dress that is elegant with a classic style while it has this modern appeal mixed in such an amazing way.

The soft chiffon skirt almost blends into the patterned top with an over-sized ribbon tied on the side, giving this dress the glam it deserves while the ribbon also creates a perfect balance with the wide-brimmed hat that comes with the dress.  I added very short wrist length gloves to the dress as I tend to like short gloves in real life too.  It just shows that short gloves are not just for casual looks as long as it is not heavy leather and instead, made of more delicate material.

For a classic styled dress like this one, I also tend to like wearing classic and traditional pearl strands.  This double stranded pearl necklace is from Virtual Impressions made from the legendary Akoya Pearls which are famed for its luster and shine as the highest of all cultured pearls.  Genuine Akoya Pearls, actually only exist in antique jewelry pieces, however, and can have almost unbelievable prices.  The necklace made my Virtual Impressions is made to give it that aged look which explains the creamy colour of the pearls used.

Sascha’s Designs, “Purity” Styled In Two Directions

Sascha's Designs, Purity

Sascha Frangilli, designer and owner of Sascha’s Designs, has just released two gorgeous gowns.  One white, called “Purity” and another black called “Tainted“.  Like most of her gowns, Sascha has included so many outfits parts that allow infinite styling possibilities.  She even includes three different pants layers and five different skirt shapes.  For the price you pay, which is very reasonable to begin with, this is so much value for your money!

Instead of blogging both gowns, I decided to try two totally different styling using the different outfit parts in the Purity set.  So here they are.

For the first look, I used the ‘split pants’ and ‘hip split swirl’ which is a half skirt that attached to the right leg, leaving the left leg bare.  I also tried a slightly fantasy look.  The Exile hairbase that I used here is an excellent hairbase set to have in your inventory as you can get a whole fatpack of different coloured hairbases for free at the Exile store.  You will find the vendor placed right in front where the new released hairs are sold.

And for the second look, I used the ‘full pants layer’, ‘skirt layer’, ‘fluffer skirt’ and ‘big collar’ in the Purity set.  The parts called ‘big collar’ is the elaborate bust hem and shoulder piece that you see in the pic below.

I took another shot just to show another top arrangement that the set allows.  Here I used a ‘stola’ instead of the ‘big collar.’  Actually the possibility is just too many and the blog post will end up way too long if I tried to show all.  But at least this will give you a glimpse of the variety of styling that is possible.

A Lovely Cocktail Dress From a Japanese Designer – Connors

Connors, Georgette Lace Cocktail Dress (Ivory)

I visited Connors just to see if there was anything I liked.  I found this lovely cocktail dress at Connors that was marked as a new release.  I loved how the lace skirt slowed out from a very low position, giving the dress an almost 30’s type vintage feel.

So I set off to style a modern vintage.  In other words, a look that had a taste of a vintage look without going all the way 30’s.  I picked pale lilac as a colour I wanted to add which was something I thought might not over-shadow the lovely ivory colour.  The gloves you see in the pic were gloves with relatively large cuff parts which I decided not to use to keep it simple.

It is always very difficult to find the exact colour shoes you want but with these pair of shoes from Virtual Impressions, you can use a HUD that comes with the shoes and pick what ever colour you like using a colour chart.  This is what I love about Virtual Impressions shoes.  As long as you can find a shoe’s design that matches, you never have to worry about the colour.

Katsucide Skins, Laura Pale (lilac)

The skin I wore here was a new skin from Katsucide Skins called Laura skin in light.  This skin store is also participating in FFL (Fashion For Life) and has a really great drow skin if any of you are interested.  And one of the drow skins “Sandra cendre – Cerise – Dark” is an FFL donate skin, which means 100% of the sales go to FFL.

Agnes Finney's My Precious, Forever Yours

Forever yours…what a romantic phrase this is.  And it’s not just a phrase of words.  It is the name of a new gown that was released by Agnes Finney’s My Precious in February which is, of course, the month of romance.

To style this lovely gown, I used a similarly sweet makeup tattoo that is available from Noya Designs that has a version with a beauty mark and I also used a gorgeous jewelry set from Virtual Impressions that use diamonds and rubies, intertwined into a rich and lovely design motif.

Inspired by the Academy Awards – Orage Creations, Royal Blue

The long awaited Academy Awards have been announced!  And in the current cinema environment where high-tech graphic technology such as CG, VFX and 3D are becoming the norm, a french silent film depicting a relationship of an older silent film star and a rising young actress, The Artist, has won The Best Picture Award!　　The film also won awards for best director, best actor, best original score and costume design.  Wow, I’ll have to see this film!

Watching news of the Academy Award inspired me to create a Red Carpet look and a new gown that was released by Orage Creations with its Italian designer, Elettra Gausman, was the perfect gown I was looking for!

The deep midnight blue, which is one of my favorite colours, gave this gown an elegance that had no match but with added glam brought on by the over-sized ruffle decor that gave spice to an otherwise simple and classic design.

I matched this with a new set of jewelry just released this past weekend by Virtual Impressions, Majestic Jewelry in Diamonds on Platinum.  The rich floral motif of this jewelry set was more than what I was looking for to complete my Red Carpet look.
