Focusing On A Favorite Jewelry Piece…

I love jewelry that add colour which is probably why I tend to prefer jewelry pieces that are not just diamonds. If I need something white, I tend to like pearls more than diamonds because it’s less invasive, less “loud”, more elegant. BUT there are also times when I want the look to focus on an interesting piece of jewelry.

This was exactly one of those days.

ByKay – Kalya Blue Set

The necklace and earring set from ByKay by Kayleigh McMillan was absolutely lovely. It comes in 3 different colours, blue, green and olive plus a group only colour of red & orange but I instantly fell in love with the one called “Kalya – blue set“. The turquoise blue was so pretty, I was inspired to style something that would focus on the necklace and came up with something very simple but stylish.

The sunglasses I am wearing is one of my favorite sunglasses because it looks so real and has a very nice shape. It comes with a HUD that allows you to change the frame colour to three different colours and each frame colour has a set of different coloured lenses that you can choose from. It’s surprising that this pair of sunglasses was made by a shoes brand creator, Hays Uriza of Haysuriza.

The high waist of this pants set helps make this look elegant and the black and white tube top has just enough details to not interfere with the necklace. Unfortunately, I just found out today that the store where I got this pants set had just closed. The designer of this outfit, Janie Marlowe, says in her profile that she will open another store with a new brand and a new set up, so I am already looking forward to her future store.

Jewelry: ByKay, Kalya blue set
Pants & tube top set: Mischief Fashions, For Her Pleasure*
Hair band: glow Studio, Midnight Crow Crown (black)
Sunglasses: Haysuriza, Glasses Michelle with HUD
Hair: Pocket Mirror, Ethel Updo (onyx)
Shoes: Maitreya, Slinky Stiletto (black)

*Mischief Fashions regrettably has just closed its doors but the designer says she will be launching a new brand.

Fun Styling With Colours

It all started from this new set of Gems and Kisses necklace and bangles I got at the Accessory Fair. Gems and Kisses has a new series of colourful necklaces and bangles that are sold at the Accessory Fair store that comes in a whopping 18 colours (3 fat packs of 6 colours each are also available) and necklaces and bracelets are sold separately so you can mix and match what you want to fit your taste.

I was in a mood for colours and a fun look and I was also looking for a good way to style a new pair of cool sneaker boots I got from Chapeau Tres Mignon (yes I know this is a hat store but these boots were sold there!). So I decided that “yellow” will be my theme today.

I also just got these sunglasses…..in fact two of them from Haysuriza which looked really cool and came with HUDs that allowed you to change the lens (yes I know this time, Haysuriza IS a shoe store but Hays just released these sunglasses. How confusing). What I liked in particular was the shape of the sunglasses which were really well made. Here I wore both of them to show both designs. For this particular look, however, I would go with the RetroCat No.3, which is the one with white frame and classic design.

The newly released pants from Tutti Fruitt were a perfect match to create a fun and funky look with its wild colours that sort of reminded me of the 60’s fashion. Tutti Frutti is a great store for those looking for fun pants as the store has a series of funky pants you can choose from. And to pull everything together, I chose a simple black tank top with a Sid & Nancy print on the front.

Top: Emery, Tank Sid & Nancy
Pants: Tutti Frutti, Pop Girl Low Rise Jeans
Necklace: Gems and Kisses, Discovery of Mars (yellow)
Bangles: Gems and Kisses, Rings of Saturn (yellow)
*Click here to go to the Accessory Fair Fair (the bangles will be sold in the Main Store after the fair).
Sunglasses 1: Haysuriza, Michelle with HUD
Sunglasses 2: Haysuriza, RetroCat No. 3 with HUD
Boots: Chapeau Tres Mignon, Wing Sneaker Boots (yellow)
Hair: Vixen Hair, Camillia

A Gorgeous Gown Released From Sascha’s Designs

Have you all noticed that what makes an SL outfit look good is the texture? Of course, the build, or rather in the case of outfits, the assembly itself can’t be crappy. That is for sure. But if you had two outfits that were both build well, what makes the different is a good texture.

The new release from Sascha’s Designs, Novice, is one such gown where texture has made a difference. The form itself is simple but with a texture that even the designer herself admits is one of the best she has created.

It comes in seven colour variations; Cognac, Royal Blue, Magenta, Lavender, Seagreen, Gold and Magnificent Red. Here I have worn Royal Blue. Cognac was also a very interesting colour which was a rich brown/red and I had a hard time deciding which I should wear. I think the only reason I am wearing Royal Blue is because it is summer and so hot! If this was autumn, I would have definitely gone to the other, Cognac.

The gown comes with three different skirt shapes, so you can choose from a slender gown to a full ballroom gown. Here I am wearing the one called “S ” skirt which flows out towards the bottom.

I matched this with a very simple hair so that the gown will speak more for itself, and also used this lovely jewelry set from “by Alexandar.” This jewelry store is a place you want to go if you are looking for coloured jewelry. The rich dark blue of the jewelry set added focus to the blue but I could also wear this with a clear diamond set (white jewelry) and in that case, wear a slightly bigger hair.

Outfit: Sascha’s Designs, Novice (royal blue)
Jewelry: by Alexandar, Sylvie Collection Sapphire
Shoes: Haysuriza, EIRIS Pumps Pointed 1000 Classic (blue)
Hair: LeLutka, Ballerina Bun with Pin (black)

A New Release From "a la folie": Ballerine

One of my favorite stores, a la folie, has just released a new dress called “Ballerine.” As the name suggests, it is shaped like a ballerina costume with a wide fluffy skirt and a top that has a low cut with tiny cute sleeves on the arms. As with all of her designs, designer pixivor Allen uses lots of flowers to create this dress including a sculpt flower on the left side of the waist. But that is not all. The skirt has a soft and delicate lace layer that flows out of the skirt with movement and adds that gentle touch.

The outfit came with a pair of elegant off white pumps but I wanted something more vibrant to match the beauty of the flowers and after some thought decided to go with orange as a spice to the look.

So I chose a skin that gave me makeup with orange eye shadows and an orange tone in the lips, but because of the orange in the face, I refrained from using too much colour for jewelry. Because the face makeup is strong, jewelry should be simple, delicate and non-intrusive while adding that final touch to the wide opened shoulders.

Shoes is an item that is always difficult to find the exact colour I have in mind but these pair I wore from Haysuriza were the exact reddish orange that I was looking for. These Sayuri pumps from this brand has an amazing colour variation of 30 colours which you can buy individually or in 3 sets of 10 colours each as fat packs. With the release of Sayuri, Haysuriza became one of the shoe stores that I will go look for specific colours along with enkythings. Usually if I visit these two stores, I can find more of less the exact colour that I am looking for. I just hope that the designer and creator for Haysuriza, Hays Uriza, will come up with the same colour variation for sandals soon.

I should also mention that Sayuri can change the heels and also part of the ribbon to gold or silver for all of its 30 colours and you can also opt to hide the ribbon if you prefer simple pumps, simply by clicking both shoes. Here I changed the heels to gold.

After I shot all the pictures I needed for this blog post, I realized that the dress might also look nice with a hat. So I tried on my fav brand of couture hats, Couture Chapeau which I introduced in the July 20th program of “Fabulous Fashion” with Angie Mornington on SLCN TV as a guest stylist. The hat added fun and elegance to the entire look and I was very happy with the result.

Nails: J’s, Nail Vivid Pack (orange)

Glitter, Glitter, Glitter For A Mini Dress

If you like glitter, this is a dress for you. Zalyn Bailey of “VoguE” has seven drooling colours for a glitter mini dress that is sexy, fun and charming.

This glitter mini dress comes in red, purple, blue, yellow, pink and orange aside from the green that I am showing here today. They all have a silky black ribbon running from the left shoulder with a big black ribbon at the bottom, adding an accent to an otherwise very simple design. But as I always say, the simpler the more fun in styling. You can style this in so many ways and that is exactly what I love doing.

Today, I styled it by adding a cool turquoise colour to the green by using this colour for jewelry and shoes that I wore. For my hair, since the dress is simple, tight and tiny, I am wearing a very voluminous hair that spreads out wide. It would be a terrible mistake to use this kind of hair with an outfit that has volume also as that will only make you look BIG. Here, however, you maintain a balance and that’s what you want to achieve.

With the green and blue as key colours and a big hair + tight dress, I think I have achieved a fun and cool look.
