A Glimpse of RL Fashion…for SL. “Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture Collection”

After the unfortunate and sad departure of John Galliano from Christian Dior, there are still a lot of talks about where the house is going with Bill Gaytten, who, in my opinion, must have such pressure taking over this mega-brand with so much hype.  His ready-to-wear collections have so far been received with so-so reviews and I must agree that they didn’t really impress me too much.

But his Couture line for the spring of 2012 was fabulous!  Although I do admit, I still miss John Galliano and his genius talent to perceive beautiful and spectacular fashion that was almost theatrical.

I know the fashion world in RL is already talking about 2012-2013 but the regular mortals such as us, we are more concerned about this coming spring!  So I decided to take up some favorites from Christian Dior’s Spring 2012 Couture line under Bill Gaytten as some of this collection definitely looks like something we can wear in SL!

The whole collection looks like a back-to-50’s type silhouette but with contemporary elements added for today.  Very elegant, fun and chic!  Definitely something I like!  So let’s see some pics from Gaytten‘s past collection for this coming spring.

Now doesn’t the poofy gowns look like something we have lots in SL?  And by presenting this, I am hoping that some talented SL designer will provide us with outfits that we can enjoy wearing in SL too!  *winks*

Lamu Sim Renewal and ALB Dream Fashion

ALB Dream Fashion

AnaLee Balut, owner and designer of ALB Dream Fashion has just reopened her sim after a renewal and O…M…G…what a fun sim it has become!  It was always a very unique and exotic sim which I enjoyed exploring when I visited her store.  But now she has added many fun things to do and not only that, the market place is like those small but fun shopping areas with narrow alleys and lots of stairs that can make a stroll so enjoyable!

Let me try to list it…she has a donkey ride and a camel ride that takes you through the sim and explains the RL places that AnaLee took the hint from.  She also has a hang-glider that you can rez and fly around the sim with.  She has LOTS of animals…and I mean LOTS!  An elephant, a rhinoceros, dolphins and lots and lots of donkeys.  She has lovely cuddle areas, exotic palaces and oh so much to see and explore!

Of course, the ALB Dream Fashion store is located on this sim too and offers as much of exotic pleasure as the sim itself with its colourful and unique designs that AnaLee is so well-known for.  If you have followed modeling or fashion in SL for some time, you will know that Mimmi Boa won Miss Virtual World 2009 by wearing AnaLee’s off-the-rack gown when every other finalist ran to get a custom gown made for them.

So what’s more befitting than to introduce one of her latest designs called ALB Muse Dress that fits the exotic atmosphere of the sim so perfectly!

It’s not just befitting.  Just take a look at the details of this garment and how real the scarf looks with its transparent material that is embroidered with detailed designs.  The texture of the fabric used is also simply amazing.

To style this gorgeous outfit, I used an Egyptian-type makeup from a.e.meth that truly completed this look.

By the way, this is a snapshot of me enjoying my donkey ride.  Just beware though…this donkey stumbles a lot so hang on tight!

Styling note:

*I only used a black hair base for this outfit and therefore no hair is listed.

A New Group Dedicated To Assist New Starter Models Is Launched!

SECOND LIFE PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 29, 2012

Announcement:  Launch of a new group for promising starter models, “A Star Is Born!”

Kay Fairey announces today that she is launching a non-profit group that is dedicated to providing promising starter models with actual runway show experience to initiate their career start.

This group will be led by Kay Fairey and will admit a maximum of 20 new graduate students from any model academy in Second Life to provide real on-the-job runway show experiences which the members can list in their resume when applying for agency castings.  Kay stresses that the group is neither an academy nor an agency and will not be affiliated with any particular model academy.  All members will be asked to leave after they have three show experiences including shows by other groups in order to open their spots to newer graduates.  This activity will continue while Kay is able to provide this service.

Shows will be organized and run by Kay at runways that will be rented with the support of BLVD Agency under BOSL Organization, where Kay is currently CEO.  Blackbarbie Bravin and Wicca Merlin, who support this concept, have joined the group as Officers.

There will be a minimum payment made to all models which will be less than the market average for professional models but Kay stresses that she wants future top models to be accustomed to the idea of paid modeling jobs as she is also an avid promoter of paid shows.

Models spend a lot of money to style the given outfits so that they look good.  I think it is only fair that models get some payment even if they will usually spend more than they earn.  Free shows with no payments made to models are taking advantage of the money models pay out of their pockets to make the outfit and the agency look good and this is not fair to them.

The way new graduate students are invited to this group may change in the future but for now only those who have been recommended by various modeling academies will be invited to the group to make sure the promising future top models get priority in taking advantage of this system.

A separate letter will be sent out soon to modeling academy Owners and Directors.

A special thanks goes to Mr. Frolic Mills of BOSL Organization for supporting this concept and allowing this group to use his runways as show venues.
