Lamu Sim Renewal and ALB Dream Fashion

ALB Dream Fashion

AnaLee Balut, owner and designer of ALB Dream Fashion has just reopened her sim after a renewal and O…M…G…what a fun sim it has become!  It was always a very unique and exotic sim which I enjoyed exploring when I visited her store.  But now she has added many fun things to do and not only that, the market place is like those small but fun shopping areas with narrow alleys and lots of stairs that can make a stroll so enjoyable!

Let me try to list it…she has a donkey ride and a camel ride that takes you through the sim and explains the RL places that AnaLee took the hint from.  She also has a hang-glider that you can rez and fly around the sim with.  She has LOTS of animals…and I mean LOTS!  An elephant, a rhinoceros, dolphins and lots and lots of donkeys.  She has lovely cuddle areas, exotic palaces and oh so much to see and explore!

Of course, the ALB Dream Fashion store is located on this sim too and offers as much of exotic pleasure as the sim itself with its colourful and unique designs that AnaLee is so well-known for.  If you have followed modeling or fashion in SL for some time, you will know that Mimmi Boa won Miss Virtual World 2009 by wearing AnaLee’s off-the-rack gown when every other finalist ran to get a custom gown made for them.

So what’s more befitting than to introduce one of her latest designs called ALB Muse Dress that fits the exotic atmosphere of the sim so perfectly!

It’s not just befitting.  Just take a look at the details of this garment and how real the scarf looks with its transparent material that is embroidered with detailed designs.  The texture of the fabric used is also simply amazing.

To style this gorgeous outfit, I used an Egyptian-type makeup from a.e.meth that truly completed this look.

By the way, this is a snapshot of me enjoying my donkey ride.  Just beware though…this donkey stumbles a lot so hang on tight!

Styling note:

*I only used a black hair base for this outfit and therefore no hair is listed.

Mashooka Designs – Suhana

I went to visit my good friend and designer, Aradhana Voight to her store, Mashooka Designs and before I left the store, found this lovely summery outfit “Suhana” in the New Release items area.  I got the Grape colour and decided to style it a bit differently.

Mashooka Designs – Suhana (grape)

Suhana is a very cute outfit that uses silky printed fabric.  Something that is very fun to style during the hot summer season.

The metallic glitter tights that I wore here was a freebie offered in a store called G L A M which I obtained some time ago.  I still treasure this set as it is a set of tintable tights that you can add any colour you like by editing it.

I matched this with a new release from Mandala, called “Milky Way” which is offered only in white, as the name suggests.  And the shoes are a new release from Pixel Fashion.  The killer pin heel comes in several shades which you can change with a menu.

Dress: Mashooka Designs, Suhana (grape)

Hair: I made this hair myself and it is not on sale

New Skin Launch – Fairey Skins

OMG I meant to report about this about a week ago!! I had all pics taken and ready to go when…….I got tied up with a LOT of things I had to do or follow up.

So here is the report a week later. :S

Aradhana Voight of Mashooka Designs has launched her first skins!! She has two skin lines in store now and one of them is called “Fairey Skin.” Yup….Fairey from my name, Kay Fairey. 😀 This is the first skin I had in my name and I feel so honoured that she named it after me.

Without any positive bias coming from the name, I really liked this skin! I had been looking for skins that don’t have the thick Audrey Hepburn type eye brows. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve been noticing a lot of skins with this type of eye brows and being an SL model, I try to stay away from the “majority” look. So finding the right eye brow was important for me. This skin had just that. It comes with brow shapes you can wear to change the height of the brows.

It also has a very natural complexion that doesn’t make you look like a over-photo shopped picture where the skin is unnaturally smooth. I had already used this skin in my previous post about “A Versatile Casual And Party Dress” so you can see what it looks like actually used.

There has been a rush of new skin launches lately but this one is certainly worth checking out!

Simply GORGEOUS! Mashooka Designs

Mashooka Designs is a brand that any fashionista will crave for. Designer Aradhana Voight has started designing outfits that inherit her Indian heritage when she couldn’t find India inspired outfits two years ago. Since then, she has merged the Indian design elements with those of Western outfits, creating fabulous outfits both Indian and Western that have the same rich and realistic textures. In May of this year, she opened her new main store in her own sim, to commemorate her second anniversary as a designer and now have two wings to the store, each filled with stunning designs with Indian heritage and Western in the respective wings.

Mashooka Designs – Jodhaa Princess Gharara & Jodhaa Rajput Jewels

This wedding season, Aradhana created absolutely gorgeous jewelry which has its roots in royal or extremely high status Indian weddings. The gold set was first released but it has been added with a silver set to match any outfit colour or personal taste.

The gold set was originally created after a 18th century jewelry based on a movie “Jodhaa Akbar” and the detail and the intricacy of the design left me quite speechless. The whole set comprises of an amazing 16 piece set, that leaves you with almost no attachment point left without a jewelry piece. However, for those who prefer not to wear the whole set, the pieces can be purchased separately so it will also be easier to match certain pieces with Western formal outfits.

This jewelry has such history behind it, it might be worthwhile checking the brief history in Aradhana’s blog for Mashooka Designs as she has a page dedicated to this jewelry. Of course, it would be quite difficult, or rather impossible, to own such elaborate jewelry in real life, so I was so thankful that I was in SL which enabled me to even have a glimpse of what it would be like to own such grand work of craftsmanship and art.

Here I am showing both the gold-ruby set and the silver-amber set matched with different Indian outfit. The gold set is worn with a deep and rich red Indian costume that is, in itself, such a noble and grand outfit. It comes with a head veil that you can use as an option (not worn here) and I must say that it fulfilled my dream of wearing an elegant saree.

And Aradhana has jewelry as well as matching outfits for the groom too!

Mashooka Designs – Kativa Gharara & Royal Rajput (silver-amber) Jewels

This silver set is worn with another Indian outfit which is equally stunning, Kativa Gharara, which comes in three colours, blue, yellow and pink. Here I am wearing the yellow one which, compared to the rich deep red of the Jodhaa Princess Gharara, has a very light and refreshing look. The two are so different although both fabulous in their own ways and both matching very well with these awesome jewelry sets.

One thing I do wish to mention aside from the gorgeous jewelry is the quality of the texture of the outfits. The very intricate and detailed pattern of Indian fabric is so well recreated here with a smooth silky feel of the material, that it will not do the outfits justice if they do get mentioned.

And for those who are thinking…..”well I won’t be wearing a saree,” there are plenty of non-Indian outfits too in which Aradhana makes use of the same skills she has used to create these.

Mashooka Design: A Taste Of The East

Mashooka Designs is a brand that I modeled for at the beginning of May for a show that was done by Ewing Fashion Agency. I have to admit, I had not had much experience with this brand other than having heard its name and but since the show, I have definitely become a fan!

Aradhana Voight, the designer for Mashooka Designs, has a gorgeous lineup of outfits which includes Indian Saris as well as non-Indian outfits. What I loved about her outfits is that all of her non-Indian outfits had the same rich colours and gorgeous texture as her Indian saris, giving her outfits a very high quality image as well as a uniqueness with which her designs could be identified with.

This Nene Dress is a good example. The red used here is very rich and the texture is like silky velvet with great shading. It has some gold embroidery which gives that ethnic touch and high quality look. The black lace is an undershirt layer and the outfit can be worn without this.

The show I was in for Mashooka Designs was, in fact, one that comemorated its second anniversay and new sim opening. On its new sim, the brand is housed in a grand building which is separated with a teleport landing point in the center. One side is dedicated to more ethnic outfits while the other side houses more regular outfits and gowns. The sim also has a lovely garden area with an open air theater which is where the show was held.

Gold jewelry matches this outfit very well and used ones I had from RYCA.

Outfit: Mashooka Designs, Nene Dress (red)
Bangles: RYCA, Texture Changing Bangle (gold)
Earrings: RYCA, B-Chandelier Earing Gold
Nails: Persona, Polished Nails (live red)
