Looking For A Party Dress?

This is the fun time of the year when we have lots of parties coming up till the end of the year and also a time when we have to watch our weights! (Yikes!) Some parties will be formal so you might be looking for a gorgeous gown and some will be less formal. But no matter what the dress code is, it’s nice to be dressed to impress.

As most of you know, SL has LOTs of gowns and we can find lovely gowns quite easily. But what about cocktail dresses or dresses that will make you look fab when dancing?

Samahi Couture is a store you might want to check out. It has so many styles that you’ll have a hard time choosing what you want to buy and so much variety in both bright, striking colours as well as chic colours like black and gray.

What’s stunning is the array of glitter dresses you can find. Samahi Couture is not all about glitter but it’s certainly a store you want to check out for that party glitter! Here I am introducing two outfits I liked. Yes, you guessed right! I couldn’t make up my mind and ended up getting two myself! 😛

The first one is called Ka’tching Dress. It’s a lovely pink glitter dress that comes with an asymmetrical cocktail length skirt as well as a full ballroom gown skirt so you can pick the skirt depending on how you want to style it. I am sure gown skirt will make you stand out with all its glitter in a formal scene but I particularly liked the shorter skirt. I think this will look lovely with dance movements which is a must for fun parties.

Samahi Couture – Ka’tching Dress

The second dress is a chic and yet gorgeous mini dress called Silver Snake Dress. It is basically a white and transparent mini dress with snake like patterns made with silver glitter. This dress is very stylish, sexy and can be styled in so many ways. I love dresses that give me flexibility to style. 😀

Samahi Couture – Silver Snake Dress

Here, I styled it with a blue jewelry set from By Alexander. The solid bright blue of these jewelry pieces were perfect to make a sleek, fashionable look while being also playful and sexy.

Uptown Girl Fashion – C&W Designs

On October 23, I posted about a cute dress created by Boston Westland of Atelier La Bubu. Boston, in fact, had another brand called C&W Design that he runs together with his friend. I must say it was a little confusing as you can purchase the same outfits in both stores but I liked his designs so much that I decided to blog about another lovely creation by Boston.

C&W Design – Andrea Dress

Although the design itself is completely different from the Londonize Memore Dress I posted about on the 23rd, what remains the same is his uptown, elegant image without making it a formal wear or a party wear. I love styling day wear clothes as there is so much you can play with and Boston’s outfits give me that fun as they are elegant but not overly styled leaving me very little areas to play with.

For this Andrea Dress, the lovely blue of the dress was something I wanted to play on and I was lucky to find a perfect hat for this! The Lizette hat in blue matched this dress so well that it looked as if it was part of the design! It wasn’t just the colour too. The design of the hat matched the elegant uptown impression the Andrea Dress had so perfectly that I was smiling the whole day.

The ruffles around the neck opening for this dress was not prim parts but it was actually drawn on the dress. This allowed me to add a white rose to play up on the clean blue and white coordination of this look. This rose is a head ornament I found in Illusions that came in all sorts of colours. So what I did was, made a copy of the white rose, attached it to my chest and adjusted the position in edit so that it will sit in the center of the ruffle almost like a broche. Since it was modifiable, I also turned full bright on to make it look more white.

To add a bit more fun, I also decided to hold a purse from Baiastice. I think I am now very happy with this uptown girl look that is pretty, fun and elegant. 🙂

Outfit: C&W Design, Andrea Dress
Hat: Elegance Hat, Lisette (blue)
Rose: Illusions, Hair Rose (white)
Earrings: Twinkleberry, Fiore n7 (white/used only earrings)
Purse: Baiastice, Funny Bows bag
Sandals: B&G, Amanda (bronco)
Nails: Candy Nail, #000 Basic Smoky Tone (smokey pink)

Newest Release From AZUL: Malena Nude

AZUL is a brand that has many fans with its elegant gowns and the new release from AZUL is Malena. As with other gowns, it comes in quite a lot of colours but this time, the base colour of the gown remains the same…..black. The right side of the bodice, which is a very delicate material with gold embroidery is the part that comes in different colours.

But the most impressive one is Malena Nude.

AZUL – Malena Nude

As the name suggests, it is made of a very delicate see through material that almost looks like half the body is nude. The talent of Mami Jewell shines in the way the gown still looks extremely elegant and delicate, while it is almost shockingly sexy.

This time, I made a fall, Halloween look. The theme I decided to achieve was a high fashion look I can wear to an elegant Halloween party where lots of fashionistas will gather. Instead of my usual skin, I wore this “Fall” skin from Nikita Frida with a new hair that was released from Tukinowaguma which can be worn with or without a large rose ornament in red or white.

This lovely necklace is from Bandit Jewelry Shop which, unfortunately does not come with matching earrings but those from another set, Damilani Eclissi set, matched quite well.

Outfit: AZUL, Malena Nude
Necklace: Bandit Jewelry Shop, Love Chain Gold & Tormaline
Earrings: Bandit Jewelry Shop, Damilani Eclissi Earrings
Nails: Candy Nails, #018 Chocolate Bonbon! (orange)
Hair: Tukinowaguma, PriPri Bigrose – white (Ebony)
Skin: Nikita Frida, Skin Fall (natural tone)

Elegant Pink – Did You Think Pink Was Girly?

OK I admit. I love pink although I don’t necessarily love “girly” fashion. I think pink is a colour that can be used not only as a sweet, cute, girly colour but as an elegant “add-on” colour. It is a magic colour that can be added to many, but my favorite has always been gray and pink. I think this combination is clean, elegant and classy.

However, sometimes this “gray” doesn’t necessarily have to be flat gray.

Here, I tried adding a twist to my favorite colour combination by using a dress that was not really gray but black and white and I think you will all agree with me that it still works as a great “add-on” colour.

The dress I used here is from Atelier La Bubu, which was having a discount sale and I got this sweet outfit for a discounted price of 160L. Atelier La Bubu is a small but attractive store with well made outfits that speaks quality. For example, this dress may not be a unique shape but the skirt has been carefully tailored so that the back side is slightly more long and poofy whereas the front is made to be more flat. As a result, you get a very nice shape of the skirt which is something you don’t get with dresses made with skirts that are made the same 360 degrees.

I added pink by using a fur shrug that Bliss Couture has released, socks and a hot pink shoulder bag which was an important element to this look. Just imagine, if this bag had been a similar soft pink, the whole look will look very blurred and weak in impression. However, by adding this hot pink as a focus or spice, the entire look became much sharper.

I must add that this shrug has been nothing but great for me. While many jackets or coats are longer, this bolero type short length has been more than valuable as I can add it to pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, even long gowns without worrying about what I will wear under it. More importantly, it works with most outfits. 🙂

The pink socks I used here was one that came in a pack of eight colours. What is great about this set is that with eight lovely coloured socks, all you have to pay is 50L! It comes from a Japanese store called PicoPure Charmmy that actually sells a lot of lolita/anime type outfits. I am sure it will make those you like lolita type dresses drool but even if you are not particularly a lolita fashion fan, this set of socks is without doubt, worth investing 50L.

The part I was most indecisive when styling was shoes. I had to try various shades of pink, gray in all types of footwear such as pumps, long boots and ankle boots. But I wasn’t happy with any of the combination until I pulled out this pair of mid-length boots that had a colour that fell in-between pink and gray called Powder Pink. This seemed to work best without stealing focus from the hot pink purse that I used as my focus for this particular look.

To complete this fun but elegant look, I used a new hair released by 69 which is a long (but not too long) natural looking hair with soft waves.

Outfit: Atelier La Bubu, Londonize Memore Dress
Shrug: Bliss Couture, OPhelia Mink Shrug (pink)
Purse: Pulchritude, Hot Pink Snakeskin Purse
Long Socks: PicoPure Charmmy, #2005 Socks (light pink)
Boots: Maitreya, Dune (powder pink)
Hair: 69, Glow 10 (offblack)
Skin: Sawode, Glamour Pale Skin (makeup 6)

I Love Leather!

It’s getting almost cold where I live and I’m starting to wear some winter clothes. One item I like is leathers especially those that have that couture touch.

The leather jacket and low rise pants that I am wearing today comes from Ranena Olivier Couture. I just love the design and also this colour which is a rather unique and delicate colour for leathers.

Ranena Olivier Couture – Leather Jacket and Pants in Grape

The jacket has a high rise collar that adds to its elegance with rather big cuffs at the end of the sleeves. It also comes with a belt which I wore today but it also works if you don’t wear the belt, keeping the jacket very simple. Then you can wear your own belt at a low position to give it a totally different image with a more casual look. The pants come in long pants as well as short pants but since it’s getting cold, I thought the long version will be more suited to be worn now.

Although I hardly ever wear belly rings, I decided to wear this sweet belly ring that has a star hanging from it that comes from Twisted and Spoiled. It’s colour changing so it can be added as a cute addition to looks where your belly button will be showing.

I also matched up a pair of big sunglasses from DeLa. This comes in 6 different colours with 4 lens colours each and you get ones that you wear over your eyes as well as one that can be worn on your head, as I am doing here. What I loved about this is that it is attached to your nose when worn over your eyes but the one that you wear on your head is attached to your mouth. This means that when the sunglasses are not covering your eyes, you don’t have to worry about your prim eye lashes being removed. Of course, you can re-attach the sunglasses to your mouth yourself but all the more better if it’s all done for you!

Leather Jacket: Ranena Olivier Couture, Urban Leather Jacket Grape
Leather Pants: Ranena Olivier Couture, Urban Leather Low Rise Pants Grape
Sunglasses: DeLa, Sunglasses “RG1” Pearl Pink Lens on Head (worn on mouth)
Belly Ring: Twisted & Spoiled, Lucky Star Belly Ring (colour change)
Shoes: Maitreya, Slinky Stilettos (purple)
Hair: Armidi, The Short V (Midnight I)

A New Skin From "Shapes by Kira"

Oh dear…..I hadn’t blogged for such a long time! Maybe this was the longest since I’ve last logged in to update my blog. It’s not that I was lazy. No, far from it. I had been too busy directing shows which has quickly become one of my major jobs here in SL along with my modeling. I even had some pics taken for my blogs but alas, I simply had no time to write. 😦

I am back now with a new series of skin I just got!

Compared to a year ago, there are now so many great skins you can obtain in SL so it’s not that hard to find nice skins that can make avatars gorgeous. However, I have been looking for a skin that has the kind of brows that I like and this has proved to be more difficult than I had ever imagined. Maybe it had been a trend but many of the great skins I found had very strong and dark eye brows. Other issues I often found was that many skins had too much make up or was too strong in the colours they used.

What struck me the first thing I wore the demos I picked up was that the eye brows were exactly the type of eye brows that I was looking for. Not too dark but dark enough to make a statement. So I quickly teleported back to the store I just came back from, still wearing my demo skin.

The new Eva Skins that Kira Paderborn came up with are an evolution of an earlier skin to which Kira made improvements from feedback she received and it really was great skin that looked not only natural but had some great makeups. I liked the range of lip colours she offered too as I had been finding that some skins tend to have a lot of the pale pink/beige lips and different shades of it but when I wanted to wear more colours on my lips to match outfits, the colours would not be available. The Eva Skins has both pale and strong lips that also come in a variety of colours. Having had some makeup training in RL, I absolutely love makeups and love wearing different coloured makeups depending on what I wear even in RL. So the colour variation offered was a joy to see.

Eva Skin – Fair Natural

These are some of the makeups that were included in the fatpack. I have never been great with photo editing but these pics, I have decided to use without any editing at all. With editing, any skin can look great, right? So including the one above, none of the pics I am using today have been retouched.

Eva Skin – Fair M1

Eva Skin – Fair M4

Eva Skin – Fair M7

Eva Skin – Fair M9

I usually wear pale/fair skin tone but I do wear much darker skin tone also when I’m wearing swimming suits or with certain outfits that go better with darker skin. So I tried the darker skin demos too and loved this one called “Sun Kissed.” It had the similar makeup variety with the fair skins, but I had to refrain from spending too much on a single day but these “Sun Kissed” skins will definitely be my next shopping target once I save up again.

Eva Skin – Sun Kissed M4 (demo)

I might also add that Kira told me she will have a skin that will only be available at your booth in the Skin Fair that has just started or starting any minute as I write this (Sept. 26 – Oct 19). This will be one with smokey eyes and pale lips. Nice! I’m going to have to head to Skin Fair then since this variation will not be available in her store.

Run, run!!

From the BOSL "Tribute to Coco Chanel Show"

Last week the Best of SL had its BOSL Fashion Week which had a line up of great shows from August 8 through 16, with one show a day, all on different runway set ups. The finale show was the “Tribute to Coco Chanel” show where many designers joined to contribute outfits designed for this particular show, making this a showcase of various designs by different designers that were inspired by Coco Chanel.

MiamaiEuridice White

I don’t know how many I can cover but I wanted to show some of them here in my blog. In fact, there were so many splendid designs that I’m just so frustrated that I don’t have enough time to blog as much as I really wished as I need to work on the blog in between producing shows.

The first one is “Euridice White” from Miamai. Miamai is a relatively new designer who is quickly becoming one of the top quality designers. monica Outlander, who is the designer for Miamai has an awesome skill with her texture development and she also takes a lot of care in creating the outfit inworld. Her skills are still improving and every outfit she makes achieves a higher level of quality which still surprises me and makes me wonder how far she will go.

The necklace I matched with the outfit is called the Lerian necklace and earrings from R. A. Crystal which is a Japanese store with creator and designer Rama Anatine. Rama provides necklace options with one attached to the spine and the other to the chest, so in cases such as this, where another chest attachment will removesthe shoulder ornament, I love to have this option. Of course, I can reattach the necklace myself but it’s a pain especially if you want to style quickly.

The shoes are from the new shoes line just released from Nardcotix. The store is currently under construction but I am sure once it reopens, you will be able to see the whole line up of Nardcotix shoes.

And here is the video of the whole Chanel Show produced by Lowe Runo and Journey Mclaglen. Enjoy!!
