A Winter Casual

I came across a store called “Twisted & Spoiled” during my job as a model and got hooked with this outfit set which I am wearing a lot lately when I spend those easy days with no parties and no special occasions where I have to dress up.

The set is called “Snuggle Me In White” and it comes with this sweet knitted cap I am wearing and a pair of knee high socks. I have to admit, I didn’t buy this set as it was given to me for an event in which I had to model wearing this, but I liked it so much that I decided to tp to this store with the LM that was in the folder.

There I found these lovely pair of boots. It comes in a black pair and a white pair and of course, I had to buy both. But this had been one of my best decisions because since then, both the black and the white pairs have been used so much! They match short skirts, jeans, shorts….almost anything casual and allows me to create a “winter casual look” the moment they rez.

I have a pair of similar boots in RL and I had been loving it as they are so warm and so comfy to walk in. Maybe my love of these RL boots is making me a bit biased but these two pairs of identical boots, aside from the colours, have been my “biggest hits of the season” as far as casual wear is concerned.

Earrings I wore here are also from the same store and colour changing. It has a necklace and bracelet in the set but since I have a high neck collar with this sweater and ruffled sleeves, I only wore the earrings.

I like this all white look also as it reminds me of a winter bunny. 🙂

A Formal Wear That We Have Been Waiting For!

Yes! At last, after Styles of edo had been creating men’s high quality formal wear for so long, winning the “MFA 2008 Best Male Fashion Label” and “Vain Inc. Readers’ Choice Award 2008, Best Male Formal Wear” only last week, edo Tone has finally decided to share his talent for the SL ladies to enjoy.

He had made a single lady’s suit last year for a charity auction for RFL. However, no regular items of such was ever introduced that customers can go buy in his store. Finally they are here! The “Black Suit for Women” and the “Red Suit for Women” were released only today!

Haven’t you ever thought you could never stand out in a sea of beautiful ladies with gowns? In such an environment, a sharp and smart look of a lady in a men’s suit can be so much more sexy and so much more cool! Just like Yves Saint Laurent when he introduced the very first pants suit for ladies…..it was welcomed by awe and still remains a legend in the history of fashion.

The key becomes styling, however. If you just threw on these suits, they can look like women wearing men’s suits. As simple as that. So what do we do? I think we should try to look as sleek, sharp, smart and sophisticated as possible, yet have some leeway to reveal some sexiness, which should never be over done. Too much ends up in bad taste. Of course, this is my personal taste, so I am sure there will be others who will think otherwise. But this is how I styled them.

For the black suit, I wanted a very sharp look with red as the focal colour. So I wanted some short red gloves but I couldn’t find the right colour and style so I quickly made my own. It’s not hard. Just go into appearance, click on gloves, make new outfit, choose the length, texture (if you have any appropriate ones but don’t worry if you don’t) and colour. Voila! You have your own red gloves. I also added red with the tiny bit of shirt that shows from underneath the jacket as well as my lips and shoes.

Oh and one more tip about makeup. For makeup, your face should be imagined as scoring 100% with all the features. So if you use strong lip colour, it works best if you refrain from using strong colours on your eyes. On the other hand, if you used strong colours for your eye shadow and a lot of it too, the lip should be more subdued. Of course, there are irregular makeup designs that aim to achieve certain images or looks but this is the basic yard stick which I learned in RL when I was trained by a makeup artist and for regular makeup, it helps me avoid big mistakes. So here, the make up I chose focuses on the red lip and the eyes are less focused except for some lashes.

As for the red suit, I added a bit more softness overall in my choices. I still like my hair short but the one I am wearing with the red suit is a bit more round and soft. I also wore a lingerie bustier from Angel Dessous instead of a shirt since all you’ll see is the lace part and it conveniently exposes a bit of my tummy. 😛 With a belly button showing, I might want to add a belly ring here but then I remembered. This is styled as a formal wear. So in thit case, no belly ring. I often see people who will wear belly rings whenever their belly buttons are exposed but belly rings are also a jewelry piece and you want to be selective when it will be better to have one or not. Another thing I kept in mind was to not add too much red. The suit is red already so too much red becomes an over-kill. So here, I chose a sharp looking makeup with pale lips and pale red nails too. The shoes I chose is also a sharp looking pair as in the black suit but this time, a plain black pair.

Now jewelry. With these kind of outfits, glittering pieces with lots of gems or very flowery, feminine designs won’t match since I am going after a sharp look. It was only by coincidence that the best pearls I know in SL were released from Styles of edo also. I often wear the triple strand necklaces for my gowns but here I chose the single strands for simplicity. Akoya pearls (antique pearls which I blogged about earlier) for the black suit and for the red, I chose the Tahitian Pearls which are the greenish black pearls, also the best I’ve seen in SL so far. Of course, earrings should be simple too, so I chose the plain studded earrings.

Both suits have pants that come in underpants and pants layers and also in regular and low rise styles. Here in both pics, I am wearing the regular style pants.

Oh damn. I am talking way too much! I should just show you the pics which is probably easier. 😛 My apology for getting carried away but that’s how excited I am so I hope I am forgiven.

Opening 2009 With Bandit Jewelry Shop!

Last year, before things started to get crazy with the holiday season, I had an opportunity to model in a show that had Bandit Jewelry Shop as its jewelry sponsor. As such, I was sent a set of jewelry to match the outfit I wore at that time, and I totally fell in love with this set called “Regal set.” But of course, we only get a set to match the outfit for the show so at that time, I got the ruby set which was, of course, the set with red gems. Since then, I had used this necklace and earring set with many outfits but after all, it was only red and I started to feel the need for other colours.

The “Regal set” is a gorgeous set of necklace and earrings which can be purchased separately as well, that has tear drop shaped gems. The necklace is not too long nor is it short as a choker and it’s also this length that makes it so useful as it matches many outfits. The whole jewelry pieces can be re-sized simply by clicking on the piece. This triggers a blue menu to appear where you can choose whether you want it to be bigger or smaller. This is a great feature as sometimes, I want to emphasize the jewelry whereas other times, I might want it to be a subdued ornament that compliments the outfit.

Here I have shown them in default sizes in the pics.

Aside from the Bandit Jewelry Shop having awesome jewelry pieces, it also has very good looking watches which can easily be used to replace bracelets. On December 31, a Rolex type watch was just released which simply look so real! The second hand even moves to mark the seconds! For those who want something more feminine, there are bracelet type watches too like the “Lady Marquise Watch” which I have shown below.

Watches for men are also available so this can be a great Valentine Day present which some of you might already have started to think about.

Bandit Jewelry Shop – Lady Marquise Watch, Black & White

And not only does this place have jewelry and watches, it even has footwear that are simply Divine! These sandals with lots of crystals are so pretty and great matches for a party look. As any shoes lover will know, footwear can do wonders to the whole look and the ones you can find in this store are awesome as you can see here. By the way, these sandals are re-sizeable too and they can also be purchased at Jador too.

So I used these items and wore them with a dainty black dress from A La Folie’s. Hmmm…I should have used the Marquise watch instead of this one with this particular outfit but oh well….I must say I was over excited about this watch as it simply looked so real and wanted to try it so much. 😛

A Chic & Gorgeous Gown From "azul"

OK,you might be wondering “Is azul a new brand?” Well yes and no. “azul” is a revived brand/store name for Mami Jewell, who had been designing female formal wear at “Styles of edo.” She had a small store under the name “azul” before she joined “Styles of edo” as the female outfit designer. She is now bigger and more experienced and has gone independent and restarted her “azul” brand.

This gown has a design that revisits the gown that Mimmi Boa wore when she won the Miss Virtual World contest this month. In the contest, Mimmi wore a white gown with an ancient Roman painting pattern on her skirt. This time, Mami launched both the white gowns and the black gowns with different colour variations for the top bodice part but here, I wore the black one.

The skirt pattern is an image that looks almost “Japanese” with gold used as the main colour. The gown comes with different colour variations for the top bodice part which you see here as gold. But I thought either the gold or the black versions will be the best match for the skirt pattern as this skirt design is the same for all top colours.

The jewelry I wore here are from Bandit Jewelry Shop. I like this store as the designs are modern and stylish. I wanted a modern design here as a contrast to the somewhat classic taste of the skirt design in this gown. The gold and silver used in this set was also perfect to be matched as both of these colours were used in the skirt pattern.

"Cabaret" Costume From Casa del Shai

Casa del Shai has released a costume that was worn by lead actress, Liza Minnelli, in a 1972 movie, “Cabaret.” The signature bowler hat look is revived with awesome texture that comes with the bowler hat in the set. It has a hat with hair (worn here) and also one without hair in the set.

Along with this set, the bowler hat with different coloured ribbons, was also released which can be purchased for a vendor placed right close to the costume vendor. So if you like the hat and want to match it with some other outfit you have, you can purchase the bowler hat alone.

For shoes, I used the new Styles of edo pumps that have an impression shine and very nice shape. In SL, there are many nice and decorative shoes but it’s not easy to find good shaped shoes that are not only good looking but simple. With this look, however, I wanted something very simple so this pair was perfect!

This could be a nice outfit for dancers who work in clubs too. Look sexy and stylish!

Latex Fashion: Elixir

Elixir is a latex store. So initially I had an image of catsuits, kinky outfits….the usually stuff when you hear “latex.” But……how I was wrong! Elixir designer, Khorus Magne, designer and owner of Elixir Fashion said when she thought of starting an outfit store, she couldn’t find any good and fashionable latex outfits and SL, so she decided to make her own. The result was a line of very fashionable latex outfits that are sold in parts and components. In other words, you can buy different pieces to combine and make your own style. She also has some set items in her store which you can buy and wear without having to worry over what to match them with what, if that is what you prefer.

All parts come in so many different colours and recently, she added a leopard texture as well. Here, I have worn a leopard/black top with a black shorts called “cheek shorts.” I am also showing a black raincoat which will look great with non-latex outfits too like jeans. Although the one I have here is solid colour in black, she also has many fun colours as well as sheer coloured ones.

The boots I wore here are also from Elixir. I use this pair quite often in fact, matching them with all sorts of outfits. I love the soft texture and shape as well as the simplicity of it.

This hair is worth a mention too. It’s from that small store that I like in a Japan sim and, as with others in this store that have hats or hair bands, the hair band is texture changing. And all you have to do is click on it. I also think the style is cool too.

azul: A New Brand From Mami Jewell

Mami Jewell, who was releasing gorgeous gowns and dresses under the “Styles of edo” brand, is now selling her outfits as “azul.” She has launched an independent store in a new location and brought back the brand that she used to have before joining “Styles of edo.” She is now selling two outfits for 100L each, one of which is the purple version of this “eWe” that I am showing you here today. This “eWe” comes in four colour variations as her new release since she opened her new store.

I matched it with a lovely scarf from Zaara. This cashmere scarf also has many colour variations as well as a more plain version in many colours too. I love the way it snuggles around your neck and falls to the front and back, looking so real and natural.

The shoes are from a brand that used to be called “Haysuriza.” These shoes have great quality and an awesome shine. They are now sold under the “Styles of edo” brand so you can find all the variations in edo’s store. “Styles of edo” owner and designer, edo Tone, says his concept is “to only sell items with good quality. And that leads to selling a dream.” And based on that perspective, he chose these shoes made by Hays Uriza to be sold in his store.

I used one of my fav skins, InZane again to complete the look.

Having Some Fun With A Gown :-)

Ok, who said we had to be chic and elegant all the time when we wore gowns? We can have some fun too if you find the right gown for some fun styling.

“Floreale Black Gown” from Clio Pret-a-Porter was exactly such a gown. Black gowns are always the best sellers but you would wear it with an updo or some party hair. Maybe a cocktail hat to add some interest. When I saw this one, I just had to try a completely different look. The flower patterns of the black gown have stunning bright pop colours and the gown was just so sweet!

I am sure you will stand out in a crowd when you go to all these parties that are going now with the holiday season kicking in. I was tp’d to a place while I was still styling this and sure enough, I got “comments.” *giggles* The tiny hat I’m wearing is from a Japanese store and the designer, Kumii Yoshikawa has some awesome items including sweet shoes that match this hat. She has many colour variations but they all look almost like candies (this does not mean her whole store is a candy store though). Clio had a white version of this gown, so if I had gotten that one, I would have worn the white/candy pink coloured hat and shoes.

This hair is a funky hair from “Here Comes Trouble.” Of course the two notches at the end of the pony tails that stick out were not this colour. I edited them to match the pink in the hat and dress by editing linked parts. A little effort goes a long way but certainly not something you want to do when you have an event you just can’t be late and only have 5 more minutes till it starts. On top of that, you still have to choose your shoes, your jewelry, still haven’t gone to the rest room and your boy friend is asking you if he should wear a brown hair or a light brown hair.

For a happy holiday season, I think I like this style a lot. Perfect for a party with some fun friends.

From Beauty Avatar’s New Collection

Recently I was in a show for Beauty Avatar where we showed the new collection that are now in the store. I have to say, I did not wear the outfit I am going to post about today. But looking at the other models, I fell in love with this one. So ignoring what I wore myself, I went out to get the same outfit that was worn by another model. It’s not too “wintery” I have to admit. But it was so sweet and stylish that I made myself a good excuse. “It’s not REALLY cold in SL, so who cares?” This was funny as I usually think even if it’s not cold, it’s good to have seasonality in SL. So I would wear a coat or winter fashion. But when I actually want something that is contradictory to my belief, I make convenient excuses. 😛 Oh well, don’t we all?

So here it is. “Mawen 05” by aida Ewing of Beauty Avatar.

It comes in different colours but this red one was so intriguing maybe because I love red myself. It has that active, positive look. It goes well with active looking boots, which I feel might go better than a very feminine looking pair of shoes to emphasize that active look. I think this will go great with any long or short hair rather than a mid range length. I use short hair a lot, so this time, I tried it with long hair. This one is from R’s Style. A very small Japanese store that is not yet known in the non-Japanese sector of SL, but certainly worth checking out. After all, don’t we all want hair that not many people know about? The turban that wraps the hair is texture changing by simply clicking on it. So you can easily match it with the outfits you are wearing. They also come in various sizes. So you won’t have to struggle to stretch or shrink the hair by editing it yourself (you can tell, I hate editing).

The skin I used here is a skin I had been waiting for! InZane Body Art skins. I blogged about this new skin store when InZane only had goth skins. I fell in love immediately at how she was able to bring contour to goth skins. It’s not easy to draw contour with white skin. Since then, I had been waiting for her to launch her regular skins. If they looked that great in goth skins, they must be gorgeous with regular skins. And gorgeous they were! She now has a range from pale to chocolate tone skins. Something for everybody. As imagined, she had great contour for the body and great faces. I particularly like her eye brows and eyes. InZane skins have now become one of my favorite skins for sure.

And last but not least, these boots are a new release from Elixir. Elixir is a latex store but with a lot of style and fashion sense. But even if you’re not a latex fan, these boots are worth checking out. There is also a red pair of boots that was launched at the same time. I decided to use the black one as too much red will lose the impact and I wanted a bit more black. I just love the soft and loose look of these boots! I must show the cool latex items they have too. So much I want to show and so little time!

Oh and one more thing. The necklace and earrings are from the Lovable Hearts set from Vincenca Rosca Jewellery, which I already blogged about. But these are the red ones that is in the same set. In my previous blog post, I showed the pink sets. Yes, you get both for one price!

Phew. I had been a bit busy this past week but I had so much to show today!
