An Amazing Circus Collection from Vero Modero!

Vero Modero recently released the “Circus Collection” which is an incredible collection that is not only unique but extremely fashionable.  I was very impressed with how designer Bouquet Babii took the theme of circus and created high fashion designs that can satisfy the taste buds of SL fashionistas.

The collection is quite extensive with many splendid designs but here I am going to show three out of the collection.

The first is a gown called Eda Gown Circus.  It comes with the hat and gloves you see here and I fell in love with this stylish hat and short gloves that really add to this lovely gown.  Circus horses are running in a circle atop this lovely hat!  How cute!  There is also a black version available with the same design.

Vero Modero – Eda Gown Circus

The next is “Vero Modero ‘Circus Collection’ – Alii Full Red Female“. This is probably the most circus-like outfit of all the collection having its inspiration from outfits of clowns.  But Bouquet managed to turn this into a high fashion creation with an amazing sense of style.  This comes in three colour versions, red, red/white and white.  I added a mask and a pair of Harlequin Boots from Illusions.

And the last is “Vero Modero ‘Circus Collection’ – Helter Set Orange“.  This is a more casual mini dress but so fun to wear!  The one I am wearing here is the orange version but there is also a red version to choose from.

You can see a lot more in this amazing collection so if you would like to see more, please visit the store and see for yourself what Bouquet has to offer.

Congratulations Bouquet on an amazing collection!

Tres Beau – Venice

Tres Beau has a new outfit released called “Venice” which I fell in love with at first sight.  I am thinking the name “Venice” came from the Carnival of Venice which had made Venice so famous, where participants wear amazingly artistic masks and costumes.  So as you can imagine, this outfit is such a fun outfit to wear and so different from any other outfit I have seen.

 Tres Beau – Venice

The outfit itself can be worn as a gown and also as a short mini dress.  Here, I wore it as a gown.  It comes with gloves that are decorated with rich red ruffles around the wrist as well as the ankle boots you can see here in the picture.  Along with that, you also get a simple mask, a mask with feather decoration, a top hat with feathers and a top hat with feathers and a face net from which you can choose what to wear with the outfit.

So not only is it a fun and stunning outfit, it allows for a variety of styling.  Here, I wore a mask with feathers but attached a pic of the top hat with feathers and net below.  All I had to add was a choker, earrings, and of course hair.  The rest was given in the set.

I’ve never been to the Carnival of Venice myself but this is one carnival I would love to go to.  I heard that masks were originally worn so that people could enjoy the carnival without worrying about social status or class.  What a wonderful concept!  In 2012, the Carnival of Venice will be held on February 4 and 5.  I bet you it’s too late to book hotels already.  *sigh*  I’m always too late to act.  Maybe 2013?

Additional Information:
This outfit is being sold in the Gizza store at Vintage Fair 2011.  You can find a map and SURL to all participating brands in this page.

——————————-

Gizza just released a fun outfit for both ladies and gentlemen called “Steampunk“.  Here I am wearing the female version of “Steampunk” that comes with a hat, goggle and even a pair of ankle boots!

So all you really need to complete the look is skin and hair.  Of course, you can add earrings but with the ruffle in the front and gloves, you really don’t even need any necklace or bracelet.

I loved this colour combination too.

Countdown – Boulevard Promotion

Countdown” is a new store that opened in September of this year and yesterday, it’s first branch store was opened in the Best of SL Boulevard.  Commemorating this opening, designer and owner, AntoniaXp Resident, released a new outfit called “Boulevard Promotion” that can only be purchased in this branch store.

It’s a gorgeous outfit that comes with the hat worn here with a skirt that is made of very light feathers.

The ankle boots I wore here are from B! Fashion where footwear are sold in one area of the store under the brand name, B! Shoes.  The red used in this ankle boots was a perfect match to the red used in the dress, which made me very happy.

Head down to Boulevard Ave. now to get this limited outfit!

Siryelle’s Dream Fashion

I came across a really fab store called Siryelle’s Dream which was a store I visited for the first time.  The designer, Siryelle Yalin, impressed me a lot with her very delicate designs and lovely texture.

Two new gowns were just released when I visited and I decided to buy one of the new released dresses but also one more that was not a new release but a gown that caught my eyes.  The two were so different but both very unique and great designs.

The new release, “Lady Dark“, is a boudoir type gown and I absolutely loved this outfit colour.  This gown can be worn as a gown or as a lingerie dress with a garter and stockings.  What’s unusual about this outfit is that it comes with this hair I am wearing here as part of the set.

And the next one, “Orange Delight Gown“, was not a new release but nevertheless a really lovely gown.  It comes with a black top and also a matching orange top so you have an option for the top and it also comes with this lovely hat.  The flowers you see in the picture are attached to the hat and works as a great accent to this rather simple but impactful gown..

Siryelle also has some lovely boots that match her outfits which, of course, can be used with other dresses so check the store out if you haven’t yet!

The necklace and earrings I am wearing here are both from “Fairy Tale” which is a Japanese store that just had a renewal opening of the store.  The creator, xxxriexxx Serevi is one of my models in Dione Fashion Agency, but she had been a jewelry creator before she even started to model.  This jewelry set is her new release which she prepared for the renewal of her store and also has a matching circlet which I am not wearing here.  I loved this very unique design which I thought was perfect for this gown with a modern design.

Some Thoughts About Poses For Runway Shows – Part 2

It’s been a while since I was able to post last and I apologize for leaving the posing topic half way up in the air.  I do take this blog very seriously and I don’t like to post unless I know I can focus on this until I can get a post up.

So a lot happened during this time.  A new BLVD Agency was created to replace the original Boulevard Agency and as our first show, we had the BOSL Fashion Week where the new BLVD Agency had 9 shows plus one more by the Miss Virtual World finalists which was also their first public presentation as 2012 finalists.  So I’d been rather busy.  XD

So going back to the topic where we left it in the last post, which is some of my personal thoughts about poses we use for runway shows, part 2, I will continue to write about the remaining “no no poses” to shed some light into why they were banned and whether they were really that bad?

3.  No arm pit poses.
These are sometimes referred to as “deodorant poses” because they look like poses you’ll see in deodorant commercials.  *laughs*  The reason why these were banned in the first place was because they tend not to be “very elegant”.  Again, think about RL.  Would you stick your arms up to show your arm pits if you were wearing a gown in RL?  The answer is most likely no.

However, if the reason for these poses getting banned was because they are not elegant, how about outfits that are not meant to be so elegant?  For example, how about fun, playful outfits or more role play type outfits?  How about street casuals?

Of course, these poses can be used. 🙂

But again, don’t forget the basic rule.  Poses have to be chosen to draw out the best of the outfits you are modeling.  Also don’t think about each individual pose as separate poses.  In other words, the poses have to flow naturally.  So if you will look like you have abruptly thrown out your arms and if that looks unnatural as a flow from the previous pose you will be using, then it may not be a good choice.  This, of course, applies to all poses however.  So after you have chosen some poses that seem to work with your outfit, it’s always a good idea to run through them to see if they flow naturally.  If not, you may need to swap the order of some poses or chose different ones altogether.

4.  No animated poses.
Finally I am seeing less of these poses being used, which I believe is good.  It’s not so much that the commercially available animated poses are bad, however.  It’s just not my favorite poses because it means somebody else can run through the same animation by using it and most likely a lot of people will even recognize where you bought it.

We all try so hard to be unique.  Why compromise with poses?

If you absolutely want to use an animation, then try to create your own.  For example, you might want to show how an outfit flows.  Some outfits look really gorgeous when they move.  So why not show this?

You might argue “but I can’t make poses.”  Right.  Neither do I.  But you can still create your own animated pose by grouping a set of still poses and hitting them one after another so that they flow as if it was an animated sequence.  You just need to be patient and find which ones work well together.  Usually this will be a sequence of 3 to 4 poses.  Of course, you can use more and make it a longer sequence.  However, as I briefly wrote in Part 1, you do need to give some good “standing still time” so people can see you well and also for any photographers out there to take a nice picture.  So you don’t want to be moving constantly.  So after taking that into consideration, usually a short animation using 3-4 poses seem to work the best.

It might also be a good idea to keep a memo of the names of poses that work together.  Or even keep folders naming them something like “Animation 1”, “Animation 2” and in each of these folders, keep some still poses that you have found that work together well.  Don’t forget to rename them with sequential numbers so you will know in which order they should be played.  Then renew these folders from time to time so you won’t be using the same sequence over and over again.

Finding poses that work as animated poses are tedious and need patience.  But when you do find a set that works great, it’s a big pleasure also.  Besides, it’s fun!

5.  No back poses (poses where you turn around to show your behind).
I must say, I am not sure at all why these poses have to be banned.  Mind you, not all show directors ban these but I have seen some that do.  I am assuming they were banned because they thought you shouldn’t be showing your behind to the audience guests.

But hey…..we are models!  Not actresses or singers on stage.  Our job is to show the outfits and not ourselves.

So if we see any value in showing our behind, such as when an outfit you are modeling has some interesting back view, why not show it?  Just make sure you don’t end the posing showing your behind.  It will actually look odd if you suddenly walked away after a back pose, right?  So make sure it’s used in between frontal poses so you have a bit of time to go back to a frontal pose before walking back.

–*–*–*–*–*–*–*–*–

So these were my thoughts on poses and also on some banned poses issues that I generally hear in the SL fashion industry.

If and when you are in any doubt, always think what it will look like in RL and also why some poses were banned in the first place.  Then think if your case applies.  That should give you a good idea on how to judge different cases and situations.

And to any show director who might be reading this, don’t ban poses without thinking of the reasons why.  Don’t just chant “no” because somebody else told you “no.”  Be prepared to give your reason why you want some poses out..

Have fun posing!!

The Red Look

I found this really gorgeous red gown with a fantastic texture at a baroque fashion house called Ephemera.  Among many lovely baroque gowns, the designer had a few regular gowns which were all very simple compared to her extravagant baroque gowns but all very tastefully made and extremely elegant.

I ended up buying most of the gowns she had and started to style them one by one.

This gown was called “Butter Red” and I am not sure where the name “butter” came from but it was one of the most lovely red gowns I have ever seen.

So I took this skirt and since I wanted a different top, I replaced the top to a corset by KWZ and it turned out to be one of my favorite gown looks.

New Release: GizzA, Tricot Set

GizzA Creations’ newest release is called Tricot Set that comes in four colour variations, Ultramarine, Champagne, Olive and Plume.

Here I am wearing Ultramarine which is a very deep blue that can be better described as a deep cobalt blue rather than navy blue.  It looks like it’s black here but it is actually a very pretty and very dark blue.  It comes with a red leather belt and the red/white scarf with a matching colour corsage.

I decided to style this with a large tote bag and get ready for a fun shopping tour over the weekend.  Yay!  Retail therapy is always the best!

SoliDea FoliEs "Rouges" for Fan Limited

Mila Tatham’s brand SoliDea FoliEs has an amazing new release called “Rouges” which was sold as the 7th Edition outfit in the Fan Limited Store.

This store has a very unique system where some of the major brands would release outfits/accessories for a 50% discount over regular prices for one item each over a duration of three weeks.  During this period, only 30 of each item will be sold and after that, the items can still be purchased in the respective stores but the prices will go up to regular prices.  If the 30 are sold out before the end of the three week period, the vendors will show “SOLD OUT” signs and you will have to wait till the three weeks are up and go to the main store to purchase them at regular prices.

After this three week period, the next Edition sets will be on sale for another three weeks.

SoliDea FoliEs – Rouges

At the time I purchased this outfit at the Fan Limited Store, there were only 3 left but since I bought one, that means there were only two left after my purchase.  So maybe they are all sold out by now but you can still buy this at the SoliDea FoliEs store, if you really like it.

For me, this was an outfit I just had to buy.  The red used for this outfit was simply so pretty and the design so cute and lovely that I didn’t even think twice!  The hat you see here comes with the outfit and for a hat lover like me, this outfit was simply irresistable!

If you don’t want to miss out on these great bargain, it might be worth subscribing to the subscribe-o-matic by clicking on the poster right behind the sales counter in the Fan Limited Store!

New Release: Mea Culpa, Time Warp

Mea Culpa has released a new gown called “Time Warp”!

I am assuming the name comes from the head accessory which must be inspired from the shape of a Japanese Kabuto (head gear in Japanese armours worn by the head samurais) in the samurai days.

In contrast to the valiant head accessory, the outfit is a very elegant mermaid gown, making this outfit very appealing and interesting to style.
