A Sweet Casual Style With A Retro Look

I was walking around the Kensington sim in London, England and came across this really nice store called “Gbberish.” It had casual outfits that had a nostalgic look and had retro-looking furniture displayed as well. It even had footwear! The whole atmosphere of the store was so befitting to the British scenery, looking like a store I might find in Nottingham.

This Kensington sim, by the way, is also a sim you must visit if you hadn’t yet. You will find the Knights Bridge Metro station and buildings so well made with art deco bars and beautiful gardens atop buildings. So it’s worth strolling around and looking around. You will sure have a great experience.

Anyway…..so here are the two outfits I got at “Gbberish.” The first one, “Audrey’s Attic Puff Dress in Vintage Roses” is a short dress with a lovely texture of roses with that antique feel to it which comes with short gloves as well as long ones. But I liked the sweet short gloves to go with this one. I matched it with a similarly retro looking hair style from “Magika.” It’s a cute two-bun look and came with a black hair band with a ribbon on the side. So I edited the hair and changed the colour of the hair band to match the dress.

I also chose a cute looking pair of shoes from “Shiny Things.” I liked the retro look of this pair that fit the outfit perfectly. But for jewelries, I decided to go with the red/brownish colour in the dress instead of making everything green.

Gbberish – Audrey’s Attic Puff Dress (Vintage Roses)

Outfit: Gbberish, Audrey’s Attic Puff Dress (Vintage Roses)
Shoes: Shiny Things, Mary Geos (spring green)
Necklace & Earrings: Lucas Lameth Fashion Jewel, Han Hana Necklace & Earrings Set (violet/red silver)
Hair: Magika, Betty (black & maroon)
Skin: Minnu, MMS-LondonFair, makeup 8b

The second outfit is a bit more casual but nonetheless sweet with a retro feel like the first one. It comes with this aqua coloured socks and also a bordeau coloured pair but I chose to wear the aqua one with this ankle boots which I also found in the same store.

The boots came in six colours and had really nice “different” colours such as “Bubble gum.” I just loved the whole taste that gave me a somewhat nostalgic memory of my childhood, not that I was actually wearing something like this.

With all outfits from “Gbberish”, I think you can really have fun matching them up with various accessories with various colours. I’m already trying out different looks myself!

Usually I never post pics of the stores but this time, the atmosphere of the store was so nice that I decided to take a snapshot and post it here.

A New Italian Designer

I was checking out a store which I thought might interest me yesterday but unfortunately it was not what I had expected. Disappointed, I decided to look around as it was a sim I had never stepped foot on and it was always interesting to see places that were new to me. If good, I thought, I would make a landmark so I could come back later.

I had already been let down so I wasn’t too enthusiastic. So I strolled from one store to another taking quick peeps and moving on to the next. There I found one that somewhat intrigued me. I went inside, looked around and thought “oh this might be a good store.” I found a few outfits that I liked but for some reason, none of the vendors were set to “buy.” If one of them was not functioning, it could be a mistake. But none??? I looked around for a “coming soon” sign or something to indicate that it was not yet opened but I found nothing. So, as usual, I decided to contact the owner and leave a message. Maybe she might tell me when it will be ready.

Soon I got a message from dolceluna Myoo, who was the owner and designer of “My Dreams” together with her husband rover Villota. She tp’d over to the store and told me that she had other stores and took me to two other stores, one of which was her main store. It was a huge two story building but still only filled half way on the first floor. To my surprise, she was a new designer who just started setting up her stores about a week ago, officially planning to open in February. To add to my surprise, she said she only started making outfits a few months ago! But for a new creator, the number of outfits she had in the store and the level of her outfit quality was quite impressive. If she is this new and can create this much, just imagine 6 months down the road?

dolceluna was from Italy and unfortunately, we had to communicate with the help of a translator but in spite of that, we had a great chat.

Let me show you one outfit I got here which is called “Diamond Red.” There was a black and blue version which, as you can see as in this red set, is not totally blue but rather blue mixed in black. I loved how the red was mixed with black in this one also to give it a subtle red look and how she added prim parts that do nothing but add sparkles to the otherwise very simple gown. But the simple form of the gown enhanced the effect of these sparkles and I just loved it!

I wish dolceluna and her husband rover the very best of luck!! I will, for sure, come back for more!

Love, Love, Love These Bags & Boots!!

I had a shoes store that I always liked….no…maybe I should say a boots store. It was a store that I came across when I was still quite new to SL and since then had gone back once in a while to check out new items. This is exactly what I did the other day. No notices or information of a new release of any kind but I just decided to check the place out.

AND…..guess what I found!
I collection of seven bright coloured boots, all with matching coloured shoulder bags!!
And the bags looked great too! Well, of course, the boots were great too but after all, boots was this place’s strength. But bags too?

They looked awesome! Not just the details but the shape and size was just right for avatars to carry with short straps so the bag part snuggled right underneath your arm. It had bag animations too so the hand will bend as if you were hold these types of shoulder bags in RL. I stood there for a LONG time, wondering which colour I should get, trying to remember all the outfits I have that I might want to use this bag with. “Black is the most versatile….but wait a minute….with all these colours, black? No…..that’s too boring. Oooooooh pink! I LOVE dark pink…..no wait a minute….that won’t be versatile enough….then….cream???” My brain cells were seriously being over-worked as I stood there thinking which one I should get.

Finally, I said to myself. “Oh damn. I’ll be coming back here anyway every time I wanted another colour to match my outfit. I might as well get them all in a fatpack!” I was so pleased with this decision……until, I saw that there were no fatpacks! I frantically looked all over the place, too sorry to throw my hard made decision out of the window. Still no fatpacks. So I decided to write a notecard to the designer. 😛

The next day, Satomi Masukami, designer for “Fussy”, sent back my notecard with a simple response. “All set. 🙂” That was all I needed to know. I tp’d right away and before I could change my mind and think twice about buying a fatpack, I had already clicked on the fatpack to “buy.” YAY! I got two sets for free buying seven colours for a price of five!! I was soooooooo happy.

And off I went for a shoot. I decided to match up a “League” Leather Jacket that comes in three length. The one I am wearing in the pics is the middle length. The short one is VERY short and the long one goes down to just above your belly button. I also wore this cute shorts I found in “League” too. In fact, the jacket was given to me to wear for a show I will be walking in very soon (Feb. 7!!), but I tp’d to the store and found this pair of shorts. It has a micro mini skirt and this shorts in the set but I fell in love with the angel wings printed on my behind. 😛 Ok, ok, maybe I’m the only one that thought my “behind” looked cute, but that’s actually how I felt when I wore this.

I also matched a casual necklace and earrings from “Yukirei Accessories.” This is a Japanese store and I must say, I love the details that Japanese jewelry creators have especially on items such as these. And for the amount of work put into them, they are usually very reasonably priced.

Oh I forgot to mention that the boots and bags come in black, brown, blue, pink, purple, cream and red. Seven in all. And the one I am showing you here is the pink one.

Leather Jacket: League, Belted Leather Jacket (black)
Short pants: League, Wild Angel Booty Set-Black (shorts)
Boots & Bags: Fussy, Fussy Boots & Hand bag (pink)
Socks: Shop Seu, Kushukushu Kutsushita (black)
Necklace: Yukirei Accessories, Dagger Which Protects Shield Necklace
Earrings: Yukirei Accessories, Dagger Earrings

A Cool Casual Style from "Sweetest Goodbye"

“Sweetest Goodbye” is a store that you MUST visit if you’re looking for a cool casual style. The texture designer Morphine Janick uses on her outfits are stunning and her styles are cool as well as sweet.

The short (in fact VERY short) sweater I am wearing here is a new release called “Desire” and although I have worn it here without wearing anything under it, you can also wear it in combination with shirts underneath. The amazing thing is…….this sweater is only comprised of three prim parts and no clothing layer! So it will be easy to match anything you might have in what ever clothing layer it comes in.

I initially took these pics for a magazine article I was writing but decided that I will wear a shirt layer myself for the magazine. So I decided to use these pics here as I usually refrain from using any pics I have for magazines before they are published.

The micro mini skirt worn here can be worn without the pantie showing. In the set you have a pants layer with the pantie showing as well as one that is only the skirt and the pantie is also included as a separate underpants layer as well for easier styling. Different colour skirts will all have this underpants layers that come in fun colours. They are all well thought out to give that fun look with contrasting colours.

The ankle boots worn here is also from Sweetest Goodbye as well as the skin. The boots, as you can see in the close up pic, has a great deal of details and comes in 8 stunning colour combinations. A really fun piece to match with any fun casual style.

The only different brands here are the stockings and bracelet, but the stocking was such a great match in colour and the bracelet I added to avoid being too “pink.”

“Sweetest Goodbye” also has some cool men’s items as well. A great place for high quality casual wear!!

Sweater: Sweetest Goodbye, Desire (gray)
Micro Mini Skirt: Sweetest Goodbye, Tik Tak (gray)
Stockings: Alchemy, Rainbow Stockings (hot pink)
Bracelet: Swallowtail, Volume Bracelet (green)
Ankle Boots: Sweetest Goodbye, Wonder Bird (gray)
Hair: Discord, Garou (black)
Skin: Sweetest Goodbye, Sweet Skin, Biscuit 09 Reflet

A Winter Casual

I came across a store called “Twisted & Spoiled” during my job as a model and got hooked with this outfit set which I am wearing a lot lately when I spend those easy days with no parties and no special occasions where I have to dress up.

The set is called “Snuggle Me In White” and it comes with this sweet knitted cap I am wearing and a pair of knee high socks. I have to admit, I didn’t buy this set as it was given to me for an event in which I had to model wearing this, but I liked it so much that I decided to tp to this store with the LM that was in the folder.

There I found these lovely pair of boots. It comes in a black pair and a white pair and of course, I had to buy both. But this had been one of my best decisions because since then, both the black and the white pairs have been used so much! They match short skirts, jeans, shorts….almost anything casual and allows me to create a “winter casual look” the moment they rez.

I have a pair of similar boots in RL and I had been loving it as they are so warm and so comfy to walk in. Maybe my love of these RL boots is making me a bit biased but these two pairs of identical boots, aside from the colours, have been my “biggest hits of the season” as far as casual wear is concerned.

Earrings I wore here are also from the same store and colour changing. It has a necklace and bracelet in the set but since I have a high neck collar with this sweater and ruffled sleeves, I only wore the earrings.

I like this all white look also as it reminds me of a winter bunny. 🙂

A Formal Wear That We Have Been Waiting For!

Yes! At last, after Styles of edo had been creating men’s high quality formal wear for so long, winning the “MFA 2008 Best Male Fashion Label” and “Vain Inc. Readers’ Choice Award 2008, Best Male Formal Wear” only last week, edo Tone has finally decided to share his talent for the SL ladies to enjoy.

He had made a single lady’s suit last year for a charity auction for RFL. However, no regular items of such was ever introduced that customers can go buy in his store. Finally they are here! The “Black Suit for Women” and the “Red Suit for Women” were released only today!

Haven’t you ever thought you could never stand out in a sea of beautiful ladies with gowns? In such an environment, a sharp and smart look of a lady in a men’s suit can be so much more sexy and so much more cool! Just like Yves Saint Laurent when he introduced the very first pants suit for ladies…..it was welcomed by awe and still remains a legend in the history of fashion.

The key becomes styling, however. If you just threw on these suits, they can look like women wearing men’s suits. As simple as that. So what do we do? I think we should try to look as sleek, sharp, smart and sophisticated as possible, yet have some leeway to reveal some sexiness, which should never be over done. Too much ends up in bad taste. Of course, this is my personal taste, so I am sure there will be others who will think otherwise. But this is how I styled them.

For the black suit, I wanted a very sharp look with red as the focal colour. So I wanted some short red gloves but I couldn’t find the right colour and style so I quickly made my own. It’s not hard. Just go into appearance, click on gloves, make new outfit, choose the length, texture (if you have any appropriate ones but don’t worry if you don’t) and colour. Voila! You have your own red gloves. I also added red with the tiny bit of shirt that shows from underneath the jacket as well as my lips and shoes.

Oh and one more tip about makeup. For makeup, your face should be imagined as scoring 100% with all the features. So if you use strong lip colour, it works best if you refrain from using strong colours on your eyes. On the other hand, if you used strong colours for your eye shadow and a lot of it too, the lip should be more subdued. Of course, there are irregular makeup designs that aim to achieve certain images or looks but this is the basic yard stick which I learned in RL when I was trained by a makeup artist and for regular makeup, it helps me avoid big mistakes. So here, the make up I chose focuses on the red lip and the eyes are less focused except for some lashes.

As for the red suit, I added a bit more softness overall in my choices. I still like my hair short but the one I am wearing with the red suit is a bit more round and soft. I also wore a lingerie bustier from Angel Dessous instead of a shirt since all you’ll see is the lace part and it conveniently exposes a bit of my tummy. 😛 With a belly button showing, I might want to add a belly ring here but then I remembered. This is styled as a formal wear. So in thit case, no belly ring. I often see people who will wear belly rings whenever their belly buttons are exposed but belly rings are also a jewelry piece and you want to be selective when it will be better to have one or not. Another thing I kept in mind was to not add too much red. The suit is red already so too much red becomes an over-kill. So here, I chose a sharp looking makeup with pale lips and pale red nails too. The shoes I chose is also a sharp looking pair as in the black suit but this time, a plain black pair.

Now jewelry. With these kind of outfits, glittering pieces with lots of gems or very flowery, feminine designs won’t match since I am going after a sharp look. It was only by coincidence that the best pearls I know in SL were released from Styles of edo also. I often wear the triple strand necklaces for my gowns but here I chose the single strands for simplicity. Akoya pearls (antique pearls which I blogged about earlier) for the black suit and for the red, I chose the Tahitian Pearls which are the greenish black pearls, also the best I’ve seen in SL so far. Of course, earrings should be simple too, so I chose the plain studded earrings.

Both suits have pants that come in underpants and pants layers and also in regular and low rise styles. Here in both pics, I am wearing the regular style pants.

Oh damn. I am talking way too much! I should just show you the pics which is probably easier. 😛 My apology for getting carried away but that’s how excited I am so I hope I am forgiven.

Opening 2009 With Bandit Jewelry Shop!

Last year, before things started to get crazy with the holiday season, I had an opportunity to model in a show that had Bandit Jewelry Shop as its jewelry sponsor. As such, I was sent a set of jewelry to match the outfit I wore at that time, and I totally fell in love with this set called “Regal set.” But of course, we only get a set to match the outfit for the show so at that time, I got the ruby set which was, of course, the set with red gems. Since then, I had used this necklace and earring set with many outfits but after all, it was only red and I started to feel the need for other colours.

The “Regal set” is a gorgeous set of necklace and earrings which can be purchased separately as well, that has tear drop shaped gems. The necklace is not too long nor is it short as a choker and it’s also this length that makes it so useful as it matches many outfits. The whole jewelry pieces can be re-sized simply by clicking on the piece. This triggers a blue menu to appear where you can choose whether you want it to be bigger or smaller. This is a great feature as sometimes, I want to emphasize the jewelry whereas other times, I might want it to be a subdued ornament that compliments the outfit.

Here I have shown them in default sizes in the pics.

Aside from the Bandit Jewelry Shop having awesome jewelry pieces, it also has very good looking watches which can easily be used to replace bracelets. On December 31, a Rolex type watch was just released which simply look so real! The second hand even moves to mark the seconds! For those who want something more feminine, there are bracelet type watches too like the “Lady Marquise Watch” which I have shown below.

Watches for men are also available so this can be a great Valentine Day present which some of you might already have started to think about.

Bandit Jewelry Shop – Lady Marquise Watch, Black & White

And not only does this place have jewelry and watches, it even has footwear that are simply Divine! These sandals with lots of crystals are so pretty and great matches for a party look. As any shoes lover will know, footwear can do wonders to the whole look and the ones you can find in this store are awesome as you can see here. By the way, these sandals are re-sizeable too and they can also be purchased at Jador too.

Bandit Jewlry Shop, JPB Jador Shoes “Eternity” Platinum & Diamonds

So I used these items and wore them with a dainty black dress from A La Folie’s. Hmmm…I should have used the Marquise watch instead of this one with this particular outfit but oh well….I must say I was over excited about this watch as it simply looked so real and wanted to try it so much. 😛

A Chic & Gorgeous Gown From "azul"

OK,you might be wondering “Is azul a new brand?” Well yes and no. “azul” is a revived brand/store name for Mami Jewell, who had been designing female formal wear at “Styles of edo.” She had a small store under the name “azul” before she joined “Styles of edo” as the female outfit designer. She is now bigger and more experienced and has gone independent and restarted her “azul” brand.

This gown has a design that revisits the gown that Mimmi Boa wore when she won the Miss Virtual World contest this month. In the contest, Mimmi wore a white gown with an ancient Roman painting pattern on her skirt. This time, Mami launched both the white gowns and the black gowns with different colour variations for the top bodice part but here, I wore the black one.

The skirt pattern is an image that looks almost “Japanese” with gold used as the main colour. The gown comes with different colour variations for the top bodice part which you see here as gold. But I thought either the gold or the black versions will be the best match for the skirt pattern as this skirt design is the same for all top colours.

The jewelry I wore here are from Bandit Jewelry Shop. I like this store as the designs are modern and stylish. I wanted a modern design here as a contrast to the somewhat classic taste of the skirt design in this gown. The gold and silver used in this set was also perfect to be matched as both of these colours were used in the skirt pattern.

"Cabaret" Costume From Casa del Shai

Casa del Shai has released a costume that was worn by lead actress, Liza Minnelli, in a 1972 movie, “Cabaret.” The signature bowler hat look is revived with awesome texture that comes with the bowler hat in the set. It has a hat with hair (worn here) and also one without hair in the set.

Along with this set, the bowler hat with different coloured ribbons, was also released which can be purchased for a vendor placed right close to the costume vendor. So if you like the hat and want to match it with some other outfit you have, you can purchase the bowler hat alone.

For shoes, I used the new Styles of edo pumps that have an impression shine and very nice shape. In SL, there are many nice and decorative shoes but it’s not easy to find good shaped shoes that are not only good looking but simple. With this look, however, I wanted something very simple so this pair was perfect!

This could be a nice outfit for dancers who work in clubs too. Look sexy and stylish!
