La Dulce Vida

I came across this store called La Dulce Vida the other day and found some really nice things that I liked very very much. In one word, the designer of La Dulce Vida, romi Dagostino has lots of colours as well as chic colours, formal gowns as well as more casual wear. I got one formal wear and also something more casual but for today, I wanted to post about the casual one, Judith.

It’s basically a two piece comprised of a top and skirt set. But the top comes in two layers. A shirt layer that is basically a simply black sleaveless shirt and an all lace jacket that is worn over the black shirt. The black colour that is worn underneath will come through the lace worn as a jacket and the whole top looks like a black and white lace top with LOTS of frills (yes I LOVE frills!!). The skirt is a tight black mini skirt, which contrasts with the very feminine looking white top. I love this combination of two contrasting pieces of clothing to make a very nice look that is well balanced.

I wanted shoes that didn’t look very chunky with this so I wore Stiletto Moody‘s Audrey which is a sleek pair of super high heel sandals with nicely shaped “toes” for avatars. I wore black pedicure as well as black nail polish to create a complete black and white look. With this sandal, the skin colour of the feet part has to be matched with the rest of the leg in order for them to look good. Although basic stin tones such as fair, tan, etc., are provided that can be chosen with a menu, you do need to use the custom colour adjustment that is also available in order to get the right skin tone. This process is a pain to be honest but once you find the right skin tone, you can save the shade in user slots available in the menu.

This hair is from a Japanese store called fascino. Recently I’ve been intrigued by the many small hair stores that may not have a wide variety but I get excitement out of finding jewel pieces among them. This store was one that a model friend, Tabata Jewell gave me a lead to and I found many hair that I liked. (Thank you, Tabata!) And to add to the joy, the creator, Sola Meili, was planning a rennovation of her store and had all her hair knocked down in prices to 50% over the entire store. 😀 At the time this was written, it was still ongoing so it may be worth checking the place out now.

Creating A Hippy Look In SL

I love finding new releases and new designers but what I also love doing, almost as a game, is to find a theme myself and attempt at creating certain looks based on these themes. Lately, I’ve been having more enthusiasm in doing this and the more challenging the theme, the more fun I seem to get. This time, it all started from spotting a “hippy style” looking top by Apple May. The moment I spotted this top, the first thing that came to my mind was “ooh this would look nice in a hippy look” and the next moment, my mind had already latched on this fun idea.

This top came in a set of three colours, which I must say, was a little disappointing. I would rather spend my money on buying different outfits than buying the same top in three different colours. But this was definitely not being sold as a fat pack and there was no other vendor selling individual colours so I ended up having to buy all the colours.

For this particular styling I had to make a hippy look so I decided to use the purple one. In more accurate terms, I didn’t HAVE to make a hippy look and nobody was telling me to do so, but as I said, once I had my mind set on certain themes, it was hard to shake it off. So in my mind, it was a must.

I tried several different pairs of jeans but this one from Jador Fashion that had some pink based colour in it seemed to work better to create a “flower children” look. And of course, I had to use this hair from Lelutka with a head band (or rather….string?) and my shoes had to be flat sandals. I found these sandals in my inventory which fit my image perfectly but unfortunately, I had bought them a long time ago which was way before I even thought of starting to blog. So I never cared that a landmark was missing. And now, I can’t even remember where I got these sandals from. Damn. I would be grateful if any of you who might be reading this might know where these came from and let me know. I even tried searching with the name I saw on the folder but I had no success. 😦

Every time I do this styling game, I seem to find something that was buried deep inside my ocean-deep inventory that I had somehow forgotten that I even had them. This time, it was these sandals and I feel as excited as if I won these on a lucky chair. Aah yes and nails. I mustn’t wear coloured nail polish with this look. I have to try to make things look as “natural” as possible. So I decided to go with french nails, which is pink + white tips.

And to finish it off, I needed a skin with very little make up and some accessories that reminded me of nature. A flower choker, bracelet and earrings set I found in Chambre de Chocolat before Eshi Otawara renamed her store to bear her name, was something I could use.

I was finally able to make a “hippy look” by scrambling into my inventory and buying nothing but the loose top that initially made me go after this look.

Modern Gypsy – A Tiny Mini Dress

The other day, I blogged about a gorgeous white gown by Modern Gypsy in the Runway Magazine blogsite. I had obtained another outfit from the same store at the time I got the gown which was a totally different style. It is a tiny mini dress that is so fun to style and one I believe can be styled in so many ways. It comes with a wide black belt with a big silver buckle that adds a nice accent to this otherwise simple mini dress.

Today, I added a pair of black leggings from FTV. This leggings set comes with a long version that extends down to the ankle and also a short version that only comes down to below knee length. I used the short version because I wanted to style it with a pair of ankle boots. I love, love, love ankle boots more so than long boots as I think in many cases, it adds more fun to looks. I cannot deny that another reason I like ankle boots is because there are so many people wearing long boots and I always like to be a “bit different.”

The main focus of styling today was the lovely vivid blue colour of this dress. In order to emphasize the blue, I decided to use only black and white for all other items. So I matched up one of my favorite jewelry set from Alienbear Designs. I have been using this quite often but it is a really nice “white” set for the winter season. I would most likely use less of this once spring is here so I might as well use it while I can.

To complete the look, I used this interesting hair from Discord. Again something to add more fun without going “too casual.”

A Silver Mini Dress From WigWamBam

WigWamBam was a store I accidentally found last year when it was still just opened. It’s not a big store, but full of fun outfits that I would enjoy styling. Yesterday, I visited the store again after some interval and found this silver mini dress that I simply loved. It came in two versions. One with short sleeves and the other with long sleeves. My choice was to go with the long one.

It is one of those simple mini dresses that you see quite often in SL but what sets it apart is the puffy shoulders at the top of the long sleeves that adds a classy image to the dress and the bold but interesting cut in the front. I can see why designer Joodle Fadoodle wanted a cut instead of an open collar. The high collar that is made possible by having a cut here matches so well with the puffy sleeves, giving the dress a different look as well as adding style. It looks very classy and elegant just by having these two details. This is what I love about designs. A small difference can make such a difference!

So instead of a simple silver or black & white look, I decided to add some red. I did that using jewelries from Chloe which, with its 150+ colour change feature, allowed me to choose the exact red I was looking for. Also I wore a fine mesh fishnet stockings in red. This pair of stockings was great as it gives you a choice of large, medium and fine mesh using different clothing layers. Then you can simply go into appearance and choose whatever colour you wish by editing colour. This practically means there is no limit to the colours you can make.

To complete the look, I wore dark red nail polish and makeup that gave me bright red lips from Pulse Skins.

For shoes, however, I decided to go with black & white, wearing a pair of ankle boots that was released from Courtisane, a new shoes brand launched by LeeZu Baxter. These boots come in so many different colours that it’s worth checking them up if you are looking for any specific colour to add to your look. And for hair, I chose a relatively voluminous hair from Tsukinowaguma which comes with a rather elaborate colour changing hair ornament. I changed the colour of the ornament to “silver white” to match the mini dress. I could have used red shoes and red hair ornaments but it seemed a bit “too much.” This way, I can bring the focus to my red lips and also the big red necklace I am wearing, from Chloe.

I am now ready to head off to a fun casino night in Las Vegas and maybe some dancing later.

A Mediterranean Look With A La Folie

A La Folie just came out with these lovely new releases called “Bolero.” It is a top that is short but puffy and a skirt that has a very pretty line falling down from the waist. The key is that these two are being sold separately and both come in so many different colours. You can either use the same colours like I did here with the white top and white skirt, or you can style it with different colours. In fact, I got a red skirt too so I can make a white and red look.

With the white top and skirt, I made a look with a Mediterranean image, matching it up with accessories from Chloe, a new store that was launched with the Nuit Blanche show and a set of bangles from Bax Coen accessories. The necklace and earrings you see here are Chloe’s latest releases. These can be changed into more than 150 colours for both the primary gem and secondary gem which makes these pieces almost like custom made jewelry. The bangles can be changed into different shades of red too. I love it when I can do this. It makes styling so much easier. Of course, I had to change my skin too as my usual skin is too pale and I wanted a nice slightly tanned look, but not too dark.

The hair I have is also a new release. Angelina from R’s Hair Style that came out only a few days ago. The creator, Rise Matova, said she envisioned Angelina Jolie when she created this hair, thus the name Angelina. It matched this Mediterranean look but could be used with formal gowns too.

The sandals I am wearing was released from A La Folie together with “Bolero.” The brown sandals complete this Mediterranean look.

From The Blanc Nuit Show

On January 31 (Saturday), the Nuit Blanche Show presented by Boulevard Agency and Studio Red gathered more than 100 people at the Patch Thibaud Auditorium. This was a show featuring four designers, Ashoka Eales of “Phoenix Rising”, Nardya Rousselot of “Nardcotix“, Kieran Debevec of “Chloe (jewelry)” and Lion Jonesford of “Lion Skins.”

It was a very exciting show and an awesome runway design with Boulevard models not only strutting the runway but also placed as props in the magnificent outfits, jewelry and skins from the featured designers. I was honoured that I had the opportunity to take part in this show although I must say that lag was really bad, making the walk and outfit change extremely challenging. The show ended in a great success and I wish to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in making this possible and my fellow models who all did a great job in that aweful lag.

So here are the outfits I wore in this show for those of you who couldn’t come.

The first one is an outfit called “Nardya Noir No.1″ by Nardcotix matched with the “Time Set Silver” set from Chloe and Turquoise Pinup shoes from Stiletto Moody. The shoes was styled by Stiletto Moody who took the turquoise blue of the brooch and came up with this lovely coloured shoes. So I decided to play on the blue too ending up with a slightly blue-ish black hair and blue eyes (which I usually never wear).

The skin used in this show were all from the “Noir” series from Lion Skins which were a special edition of the new “SU” line of skins that Lion developed specifically for this show. They are, however, all on sale in her store, so if you like them, it would be worth a visit. By the way, if you think you can’t find them, try tp’ing up to the roof top.

All the photographs used here, with the exception of the last close up shots in each group were taken by Tillie Ariantho and Sharron Shumann during the show.

I will post some of the outfits from these brands on another opportunity as this post will become way too long. But I will just say that I loved them!

The next one was also from Nardcotix called “Nardya Noir No.13″ and it was actually a gradated gray gown with extravagant fur used around the whole neck/chest area. It was a very elegant and yet sweet outfit. The jewelry used here are from Alienbear who also provided jewelry for the show.

The last outfit I wore was from Phoenix Rising called Inner Wrappings (Red). Here it is worn as a mini one piece dress but you are given a choice of wearing it as you see here in the pics or as a shirt + pants set. This was a most sweet mini dress with an interesting prim skirt shape.

Cute Japanese Fashion

Outfits made by Japanese designers tend to be very cute and sweet. This is one of those sweet dresses I found in “anuenue (pronounced anu-eh-nu-eh).” This dress from “anuenue” has sweet fluffy sleeves and the skirt is also a bit fluffy with gives it the sweet look it has. I was wondering if I should get the pink one or the green one but after I thought I can make a pink and green look with this, I decided to go with the green and add pink as my second colour using other items.

So instead of styling it up with green, I decided to add pink as the second colour and used a lovely hat from “A La Folie” with pink roses, a necklace with pink flowers from “Twinkleberry”, also a Japanese store, pink tights from “Gbberish” which have designs printed on it and a flat pink shoes also from “Gbberish.”

The tights came in a set of three different coloured tights all with this flower pattern and I was so excited when I found this as there are many lace stockings in SL, tights with a pattern are hard to find. It was the same with shoes. You can find a lot of high heeled shoes but very few flat ones especially if you want something that has a nice shape.

A $1L Sale For A Sweet Purple Dress – Japan

A sweet little store in Japan called “Towa” owned by Towa Lax just re-opened after refurbishment. To commemorate this, she has released a purple chiffon dress for $1L. It’s a cocktail dress made with very soft flexi parts that flow gently as you move and comes in 5 colours (only the purple one is discounted). She also released 5 prim nail items that match the colours of the dress, as well as a short bolero jacket in many colours, also designed to go with this dress. The while bolero, however, can only be won by “lucky letter*.”

I also found this pale pink cocktail dress which was available in black too. It’s a very sweet mini cocktail dress that would be nice to wear to a non-formal party. The Stiletto Moody shoes in “blush” colour were perfect for this dress and I wore jewelries with pink from Virtual Impressions. This is a jewelry store that has very nice jewelry at very reasonable prices and carries a wide range of jewelry that had “pink” in it. So one day, when I was looking for a set of pink jewelry, I tp’d here and found this set which was exactly what I was looking for.

This hair is from Sparkle Skye and it comes with flowers. There were many flower colours who could choose from to match outfits you wanted to wear them with. As this store is one that has many lovely wedding gowns, I think this hair was initially designed to be worn with a wedding gown but of course, I use it with any kind of dress as I don’t expect to wear wedding gowns many times except for wedding shows.

*Note: This is not a lucky chair. It’s a vendor poster with lucky alphabets and numbers, where you have to click on the vendor to win the item displayed if your letter comes up. This system is used quite often in Japanese sims.

Great Italian Designs From Addoro

Addoro Design is a store in the Best of Italian sim that I came across. Mew Denimore is the creative designer here who creates outfits ranging from lingerie to gowns, sexy outfits, casuals, town wear…you name it. She even has shoes to match the outfits she makes! So if you’re like me, going nuts just to find that right red or right pale purple, in this store, she has it all. You will find the right coloured shoes right beside the dress you are looking at.

Addoro is a store not only for matching shoes. Mew has some of the most unique outfits I have ever seen in SL that are also fashionable at the same time, along side her gorgeous outfits. And she also has accessories such as necklaces inside the set that are also very unique and match the outfits wonderfully. In fact, some of the jewelry she has are so lovely that I match them up with other outfits I have, using them separately as jewelry pieces.

Today I will show you the most unique outfit she had. It’s a pants suit with an impressive face graphic on the whole front side on the bodice!! The funky sunglasses that I am wearing here are also in the set. It also has a belt-like prim part around your waist with a tail like flexi piece hanging at the back together with what looked like half a skirt.

She was so unique with such great designs that I decided to cover her in a magazine article that I am working on and I got together with Mew Denimore to choose the outfits that we wanted to show. And we were categorizing them in categories such as “lingerie”, “town wear”, “formal” and so forth, and this outfit was one neither of us could categorize. So we called it “original.” It was THAT unique!

I’ll have to show you some of the more “normal” looking gorgeous things she has too, but for today, I will show her “most unique and funky” fashion.
