The very first time I wore anything from QUEENS was when I was in a half panic, not knowing what to wear, only 30 minutes before the start of the finals for Mr. Virtual World that was held on June 6. I was running out of time and I had no idea what I should wear nor had I anything styled.
So out of desperation, I decided to teleport to a new store I had never yet visited. That was QUEENS, a relatively new brand which I had always wanted to visit but hadn’t yet found any time to go shopping.
QUEENS was a very elegant store with lots of very attractive outfits. It had a lot of gorgeous gowns as well as some very dressy cocktail dresses. Since that day, this is still my second QUEENS gown which my beloved partner Aris sent to me a few days ago.
Katerina is a gown that has a very big skirt that is all lace. The bodice part uses both lace and solid fabric with a very elegant cut which was almost fresh to the eye that has grown accustomed to the very revealing and bold cuts that you see often in the market.

I decided to style this to make a very classic and authentic look and matched it with a diamond jewelry set from Virtual Impressions. Red nails and lip colour add the finishing touch to this classic elegance.
Gown: QUEENS, Katerina
Jewelry: Virtual Impressions, Cheryl Jewelry Set in Platinum & Diamonds
Nails: Candy Nail, #P006 Long Nails Red
Hair: BooN, XFE275 Hair (Black)

One of the things we do a lot when we style ourselves is mixing and matching different outfits. Of course you do that when you are wearing casual clothing such as a top from one brand and a bottom from another. But more so than ever, we are seeing cases where we need to pull different parts of an outfit from different brands to create one outfit in order to have something unique.
I don’t usually show these “looks” in my blog because it wouldn’t do much for the designers who, I am sure, prefer to see their outfits intact rather than torn apart.
But today, I got a shot of a “look” that I was very happy about. I am not a professional photographer nor do I claim that Iam good since I suck at photoshop skills which means I need to rely a lot on what I can do in-world to make my pics look somewhat ok.
So I decided to post this one as I was rather happy with the outcome.
This was a “look” I made by mixing a mini dress from VUI called “Marbled Little Diva (pink/blue)” with the skirt part from a Gothic wedding gown by Miamai called “Kay”. What I tried here was to create an elegant gown without losing the soft feel of the mini skirt which is why I avoided long skirts that tend to have straight flexi prims. The skirt from this Miamai gown worked perfectly since the prims are not simple straight prims but rather twisted, forming a soft image. The angle at which it spread out was perfect too so the two skirts didn’t look disconnected.
Outfit: VUI “Marbled Little Diva (pink/blue)” + Miamai “Kay”
Earrings: Alienbear Design, Kielo Earring white
Shoot location: Immersiva

I admit, I’m a pose whore. When I see new poses, I at least check out most of them although I may not necessarily buy them. Today I am going to show off a new set of poses I just got. The Tandra Set and Tandra Variation Set from Body Talking.
Body Talking has been introducing new poses and sets very energetically recently but the first time I purchased some poses from this store was during Project Tents where Body Talking had a tent. All tent vendors had at least one exclusive item they sold during the charity event and likewise, Body Talking had a set of exclusive poses called the Miaa Set.
So here are some poses from the Tandra Set and Tandra Variation poses. By the way, the Tandra Variation poses are not in the set but you can buy these individually from the demo pose stand. Each pose is L$12o and the Tandra Set is L$900 for 9 poses.

It comes with a flower hair ornament and it’s all flowers, flowers, flowers!

The jewelry I matched with this gown is the Renaissance Set from ByKay.

As you may already know, the designers who are supporting our Project Tents effort to collect funds to purchase special tents that will be sent to Haiti have created special exclusive items that can only be purchased at their vendors in the Project Tents sim which will be opened until May 30.

This is one of the two exclusives Applonia Criss made for Haiti worn together with the exclusive jewelry set that is also being sold in her tent. The Waterfall Dress and the Toro Tora Jewelry Set.

The dress is a very simple form but the colours used and the texture make it so special and the jewelry set is a must with perfectly matching colours. The two create such a lovely and cool look for summer parties.

And remember…..75% of everything you buy here will be sent to the Haiti fund. Let’s try to send as many tents as we can before the monsoon season hits Haiti! Read more about this project here.

A Japanese jewelry store, R.A. Crystal has just released a new set of jewelry called “Coin Set.” Rama Anatine, creator and owner of R.A. Crystal said “I made a set that I wanted to have myself in real life. I wanted something that’s not gaudy. Something that’s subtle and casual but still elegant”.
And she made exactly that.

So I decided to style myself centering around this set. It had to be casual and yet elegant and what I arrived at was an elegant pants style based on colours that compliment this jewelry set. However, colours such as white and sand colour, or light brown, tend to make the entire look rather sleepy. In order to add a bit of crispness, I decided to add black and white for my shoes and purse. The B&W pair of shoes from Nardcotix and purse from +plus* I had in my inventory were perfect for this purpose.

To finish off this style, I added a fedora hat from Couture Chapeau and a newly released hair from 69, another Japanese store. This hair is a loosely braided hair that is casual yet very feminine and worked well to add some elegance to the entire look. Usually I wear black hair but in order to match the overall brown/beige look, I used a colour called Chestnut which is a dark brown with a shade of red. I plain brown would have made the entire look a bit sleepy too, so this tad of red helped to bring some life into the look also.

This hair from 69 uses a very unique colour selection system which is great for people who are worried about the ever growing number of inventory. The fat pack comes with several hair that is divided into the main tone such as reds, blacks blonds and so forth. When you wear the object, instead of a hair on your skull, you will see a HUD on your screen with a graphic of the hair style and shade choices. You then click on the shade you wish to wear and the hair shade of your choice will be delivered to you in a folder. In other words, you can delete the entire folder after use and have a new set delivered every time you want to wear it so what you have in your inventory will always be just the HUD sets. What a fantastic idea for people like me who just seem to fail so miserably in keeping the inventory numbers low!

PRESS RELEASE from May 19, 2010
RE: “Project Tents HAITI Benefit Expo” organized by Project Tents and Peace Train Charitable Trust for ShelterBox – May 21st through May 30th, 2010.
Over four months ago a devastating 7.0 earthquake hit the country of Haiti just outside the capital of Port-au-Prince. Four months seems like a lifetime ago, so many other natural occurrences have impacted citizens of the world since then, but the work in Haiti has only just begun. The May 24th issue of Time Magazine reports concerns that living conditions in Haiti are getting worse with the storm season now upon the region. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians still are without any permanent shelter, their only protection from the elements are makeshift tents created from materials found in the rubble. Without a solid base to these structures, many Haitians go to sleep at night in extremely damp surroundings sometime unable to escape pools of water left by the torrential rains. Relief organizations are working as fast as they can to provide permanent shelter but it may be years until any normalcy is brought back to Haiti.
This is why Project Tents along with the Peace Train Charitable Trust is honored to announce and bring to Second Life the Project Tents HAITI Benefit Expo, a fund-raising event for ShelterBox. ShelterBox is a recognized international fund-raising organization that provides quality shelters for those displaced by disasters. The shelters, provided for those displaced in Haiti, are quality tents that can fit up to 10 people each and are built to withstand extreme temperatures, high winds and heavy rainfall. These are only temporary homes but are safe & reliable until permanent homes are completed.
With the National Hurricane Center in the US predicting an active Atlantic Hurricane season and Haiti being right in the middle of ‘Hurricane Alley’, finding reliable shelters is extremely important and why we are excited to organize this fund-raising event for ShelterBox.
Project Tents HAITI Benefit Expo, is a benefit exposition featuring members of Second Life’s fashion industry, created by Project Tents, a non-profit group in-world group of models and designers in Second Life. The exposition will feature creations of many of top designers of Second Life fashion, as well as musical performances sponsored in cooperation with the Peace Train Charitable Trust. We, the members of Project Tents, want to first thank you for your support and any donations we may receive to our fundraiser to benefit the people of Haiti. Project Tents HAITI Benefit Expo will open May 21st and run through May 30th (See SLURL links listed below). All of the designers will be offering exclusive and limited edition items which will only be available at the expo.
