A Brand New Designer On The Grid

“Fashion Nomad” is a new brand by a new designer Aleida Rhode. She opened her store only about three weeks ago and is already churning out new releases very energetically. Aleida had been one of the top models in SL and I had known her through modeling jobs as well as runway projects at Ewing Fashion Agency where we both work as a staff member and model. Through her modeling career, Aleida has seen many fashion brands as well as outfits and I am looking forward to see what she will add to the SL world of fashion.

Here is one of her new releases, Balinya Dress in rose dust. A very subdued soft pink dress that is very elegant and good for any semi-formal party. I matched it with a burgundy coloured pair of shoes and a matching rose hair accessory. I also tried white shoes, as well as similar coloured shoes but the entire image looked “sleepy” when I used soft colours only and it seemed to work best when I added stronger colours at my feel level and at the top as a hair ornament to sharpen up the entire look. I must say, however, pure white also worked too but it was a bit too predictable so I decided to show the stronger coloured match in my pics.

Although this particular dress I have shown is soft coloured, Aleida also has lots of bright coloured shirts, tank top as well as jackets. Even dresses too. To show one of such examples, I picked this shirt top which is a pretty fuscia coloured top with a see-through lower part of the bodice and puff sleeves.

Here I made a fun spring look using various accessory items. I could have made a sweet look with a pink shirt that has puff sleeves but I tend to like going against the expected so it was more like an experiment which was also a lot of fun.

A Charming Spring Dress From Hal*Hina

Hal*Hina is a Japanese store that is very famous in Japan for it’s skins, both for female and male avatars but from some time ago, they have also started to sell clothes.

Hal*Hina outfits are, in general, very pretty in colours but never uses strong bold colours. Typically, the colours are soft and outfits very girly. Here I found this most charming dress called Tunic Dress – Doll which can be worn like I am showing in my pics, or as a shorter baby doll dress. What a perfect dress for this time of the year! It’s still a bit chilly but it’s definitely getting warmer. Yay!! Spring is here!!

I have matched it with a similarly dainty jewelry set called Placido by Twinkleberry, a pair of charming and girly shoes, also in pink, by G Field and a newly released hair called Thalia by Tsukinowaguma. The ribbon you see in my hair is a matching ribbon that was included in the
dress set for Hal*Hina.

A Lovely Butterfly Dress From House of Beningborough

A relatively new designer, Bliss Beningborough for “the House of Beningborough”, has lovely gowns as well as day dresses that will catch the eye of many in SL. She already has several stores and her stores are all full of vibrant colours.

This gown called “Flutterby” comes in several colours such as bright blue, yellow, white. It is a lovely gown with a big butterfly that forms the front of the bodice with a very big ruffled skirt and a hair accessory included in the set with matching colours.

I matched it with a flower accessory called “Sakura (cherry blossom in Japanese)” from “si*na Jewelry” which is a relatively small Japanese jewelry store that has some really nice items. This one caught my eye because of it’s unique design using only dainty sakura flowers and leaves to create a charming necklace and earrings set.

Butterfly and flowers. What can be a better match in March when spring is just around the corner!

The hair I am using is “Kay ver2” from R’s Hair Style where my good friend Rise Matova made hair based on my image (blush, blush). It’s a lovely hair to be worn with formal gowns that is a clean updo and yet have some movement without looking messy.

Shoots With Elysium Eilde

Recently I joined a Material Squirrel poster shoot with Elysium Eilde. And the resulting pics were posted on her flickr page. Once they are up on her flickr, it means that we can download them from there.

So here they are.

The first two are in-store posters for Material Squirrel.

A Cool Rider’s Jacket For Ladies

My regular readers will know by now that I LOVE rider’s jackets in RL and in SL. These are one item I cannot go without buying if I see a cool one on the market. So….here I go again!

I found a cool rider’s jacket designed for ladies from a store called “B11” in Japan. It seems Japanese stores tend to have lots of nice rider’s jackets which is quite understandable with all the motorcycles in Japan. Most of the popular motorcycles companies such as Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki are all Japanese companies. So go figure.

There were several colour variations including the usual black and also one in a leopard pattern which did, I must say, intrigued me as it was different. But I still wanted it to look like a rider’s jacket and a leopard skin pattern was just a bit too “girly” for my ideal of what rider’s jackets should look like so I settled for a red one, which, surprisingly was my very first red! It was still different from the ones I have as most of them were black.

This jacket is a very slender jacket that could be worn easily even with skirts. In fact, I like wearing these leather jackets with skirts…which reminds me, I must try that styling here sometime. But for today, I went in a very “conservative” direction wearing the jacket with a pair of leather pants from DeLa.

If you are looking for cool leather pants, DeLa is a good place to start as these pants come in eight colour variations which is quite unusual for leather pants. These eight are also divided up into four each to form two sets of fat packs for those who embrace a great love for leathers. This one I wore is “silver” although it does look black. The one labelled “black” has a much darker black colour. I could have gone with that one too but I thought this silver one will give me a slightly softer look compared to a bold red + black.

This time, I wanted to wear the jacket more as a fashion item rather than for a look that was more appropriate for practical riding so I matched it with black boots from Shiny Things that has some heels but without wearing the calf prims. This way, I won’t have to worry about my boot prims coming out of my pants while it still looks like I am wearing boots.

I received some nice compliments in this look……..so I guess I will just keep on increasing my rider’s jacket collection. *sighs*

Classic Designs From The Golden Ages

A model friend of mine gave me a lead to an awesome store called “Sonatta Morales Atelier de Couture.” I have to admit, I had not known this store and I feel almost ashamed that I hadn’t as it was full of classic designs from the 1930’s to 1960’s. The days of Greta Garbo and Grace Kelly….the Golden Ages of Hollywood.

Sonatta Moreles, the designer behind all the stunning designs says her designs were influenced by her childhood when cinema was very important and she had watched all the movies with these elegant actresses who were not only elegant but had a flare of sexiness and glam.

Instead of my usual blog style where I pick up one outfit and show details, I decided to show three outfits to show the kind of outfits I am talking about. She also has lovely gowns so I will take them up gradually in my usual style.

The first one is called “Tulip.” I am sure the name comes from the tulip petal like prim piece that is attached to the waist, giving this outfit an interesting spin to an otherwise very simple black dress. It is accompanied by a matching hat, gloves and matching pair of shoes using the same texture. The elegance of this simple piece is almost beyond my ability to explain.

Sonatta Morales – Tulip

The next outfit is called “Bentley.” It also comes with matching hat, gloves and shoes using the same texture and has a jacket you can take off to reveal a sleeveless top with a bow tied at the neck and the back of this top is bare.

There was two versions of the same hat in the set. One with a classic looking hair and also one without hair. I am sure many of you have had the experience of having to find the right hair to wear with a hat, or having to edit hair prim by prim to hide all the prim pieces that stick out of the hat. With this, you won’t have to worry about any of that and still wear your favorite hair if you had one that matches.

Sonatta Morales – Bentley

The last outfit is called “Opium.” It is a sleek black dress with fur around the neck, covering the shoulders. This outfit comes with a small and elegant hat with net covering the entire face with bright orange butterflies attached as effective ornaments. This set comes with a hat including the net, a pair of black stockings with a tiny butterfly on one ankle, gloves and all the butterfly attachments to complete the look.

In case you want classic looking hair styeles this shop also has some hair that perfectly matches the styles of these times. In the next picture, I am wearing one of those hair that I found in her store. The outfit does not come with shoes but with this outfit, matching shoes will not be a problem as you can simply wear nice black pumps to complete the classic look.

A New Release From Azul

Mami Jewell of “azul” has just released a new gown called Mia. It is an elegant gown that has a very wide black ribbon that composes the bodice of the gown and tied in a very big and soft ribbon at the front. The colours are arranged into what seems like a graduation with the colour becoming darker at the skirt but more vibrant at the top, creating an interesting look to an otherwise very simple design. The skirt is soft and voluminous while it is cropped short at the front revealing the legs. I found this gown to be great for dancing as you can still be in a formal gown while your legs will be revealed as if you were wearing a short cocktail dress.

I matched this gown with a very unusual coloured hair. I tried my usual black, but with a navy coloured dress, I wanted a bit more colour to the entire look. This is a colour called “pink brown” and it is a colour that is only available if you purchased a fat pack of the Kay ver2 hair at R’s Hair Style. Usually pink hair will be too childish or only good for fantasy looks but this one, because of the shade of brown in the pink, was good for any style with a touch of difference.

Choice of shoes will be important with this gown so I couldn’t just slap on a pair of “same coloured pumps” that you can’t even see anyway. I chose Stiletto Moody’s Bare series sandals to emphasize the bare legs in this look.

ALB Dream Fashion – DIOR Impression Cloud

The other day I posted about AnaLee Balut‘s DIOR Impression Flower Set, which was a lovely pink gown in the Runway magazine blog. Today, I have one from the same series but this time, it’s a set called DIOR Impression Cloud. A dainty white gown with a touch of smokey lilac and a hem that’s not as long as a full gown makes this a somewhat nostalgic piece. As I said in my previous post, gowns in this series by AnaLee are all inspired by the great designs of DIOR but each one is different and that’s what makes it so interesting.

It was such a tough decision to choose which one I wanted with so many lovely gowns to choose from and I had the toughest time. After lingering around for so long, I finally decided to get two, which was the Flower gown and this Cloud. I liked the nostalgic feel this dress had while still good for any party.

The Chi Chi Pumps in cream colour from Maiiki Maitreya were a perfect match with its off white colour and smokey lilac trimmings. It was almost as if these shoes were made for this dress.

I also wore some sweet flower jewelry also from ALB Dream Fashion since I didn’t think gorgeous gems will suit this dress and I wanted to play up on its dainty image.
