MOlly’s First, Last, and Only Comment on the RUNWAY Debacle

I believe we are all pretty sick and tired of this RUNWAY magazine fiasco and personally I wish to put this down as one of the memories I have of Second Life and move on.

In a hope to put an end to this, I am posting MOlly Dench, former Managing Editor of RUNWAY magazine’s first, last and only comment she made to her personal blog she made to post this. It was posted as a comment to the previous post but since it was only a link to her blog, I have personally decided to print the whole statement.

And this will be my last post about this unfortunate incident and I will move on, go back to styling and writing about what I enjoy in Second Life.

—————————————————————————

M0lly’s First, Last, and Only Comment on the RUNWAY Debacle.

Those of you who know me well – and there are not many of you, I am extremely private – would know, that I do not get involved in SL drama, and I do not post randomly or without being aware of the facts. I do not bad-mouth anyone (unless they have an ARC of over 5000 at the Hair Fair) and I do not get involved in public comment and dramas until I am confident that I know what I’m talking about. I am not a public person and I am not interested in any one’s opinion of my morals or motivations.

I was not planning on making any comment at all on the RUNWAY debacle. This too shall pass, I thought, and sad, and messy, and ugly as it has been, it will be over. We will move on, and the talent and creativity of those at RUNWAY will be put to other uses and will live on in other ways.

However, the latest Final Post by Maggie was really too much for me. Enough is enough, and it is time to put This Issue To Bed.

A Final Post is just that. So Maggie, please stop. No more. Leave. Enjoy your RL. Get well. And stop posting. It’s over.

The comments relating to Thalia’s failure to pass on information, and willy-nilly handing Runway over to BOSL are factually incorrect and must be refuted. I cannot begin to understand why Maggie would email Thalia and post on the blog at the same time, knowing that Thalia is, like myself, in Australia. This means that by the time Thalia even SAW the email and the blog – she does have to sleep, like the rest of us – the IMs, fingerpointing, hysteria and general SL drama was well underway.

However, these I know to be facts:
The minute Thalia saw the email, she cut and pasted it into a notecard inworld, and sent it to everyone that needed to be involved. There was NO withholding of information.

That Thalia, EmmZ and Vera met with Frolic, and that the prime motivator was the assumption – be it incorrect or otherwise – that there were unpaid staff, advertisers out of pocket, and a magazine that was the pride and joy of many.

Their desire to see these obligations met is only to their credit and should not now, or ever, be used as a weapon against them. It speaks volumes that these women decided to try to do the right thing in a mess not of their making. All power to you. Not everyone would behave as well as you tried to do. My respect, ladies.

This sorry train-wreck needs to come to the end of its line right now.

Everything that happened here is because of Maggie’s misreading of the situation.

The lack of communication with those who believed in her was unacceptable, and after the amount of time we have all spent in SL, laughable. There is always a drama when something like this happens, this is NOT a surprise result, and as many, many people have said, had there been a real desire to pass RUNWAY on, meetings with trusted associates should have taken place prior to the announcement and a seamless transition could have been effected. Even the sale of the business would have been acceptable. This was poorly handled and the fallout has been people hurt and confused by the events that transpired.

I know, with every fibre of my being – both SL and RL beings, I might add – that EmmZ, Thalia, and Vera especially, acted as they thought best in an horrific, sudden, and overwhelming situation, with IMs and notecards flying and information, good, bad, and ridiculous, pouring in on all sides. It is a deluge, and exhausting when it occurs.

All of these women are known to me personally in RL and I respect and like each one.

So – time to stop. Thalia, EmmZ, Vera, and everyone else associated with RUNWAY, behaved as best they could given the information they had at the time and whether their decisions were right, wrong, or indifferent, were forced upon them by the actions of Maggie and Ocean.

And the rest – can we please say – is now history.

From me, there will be no further comment. Except to say – I loved my time at RUNWAY, and I am proud of what we did. And Thalia, Vera, and EmmZ? Rock on, girls. You behaved impeccably. Thank you for your moral stance, and your belief in people, the magazine, and even Maggie – right through to the bitter end. It makes you better people, not worse.

A New Release From Phoenix Rising

A new outfit called Leo’s Pride was released from Phoenix Rising yesterday and I seriously think this is one of my favorite outfits in this store! I simply love, love, love it!

It’s a gorgeous, chic outfit that is black with gold that can worn as a ball gown, a slender simple gown or a pants set! The bodice part is black and gold and with any of the styles, the rest is black which seems to be one of the favorite colours for many SL fashion lovers. When worn as a ballroom gown, the prim skirts moves vigorously with the avatar movement without showing the legs (which is nice) and designer, Ashoka Eales, have even added sculpt prim parts for the lower legs to be worn when the outfit is worn as a pants set.

It also comes with a neck collar and a cuff for only one wrist which makes the design look very sharp. I wanted to play up on this black and gold colour combination so I chose black nails for nail polish and simple gold hoops as earrings.

Ahhh….I just realized that I seem to be wearing black nails quite often lately. I guess it’s just my “personal trend.”

Another Unique & Lovely Gown From Addoro Design

A few days ago, I posted about the Purple Zebra outfit from Addoro Design saying that it was one of the most unique outfits I have ever seen. I also mentioned how Addoro Design has a wide range of outfit categories. So today, I will post a formal mermaid dress called “Xeena” which is an outfit from Mew Denimore’s formal line. This gown is also unique and different. It has many flexi prim parts that create a vibrant movement as you move in this dress. The interesting thing is that the soft flowing flexi parts create a very feminine image while the black & white colours of the dress as well as the metal belt that sits on the lower waist adds a strong image as well.

The front cut is also a unique round shaped cut that drops quite deep and there is a triangular slit in the back which adds an interesting look to the whole design. Except for the studded black pearl earrings I am wearing in the pictures, all jewelry came with the dress in the set. I chose these earrings as I wanted something very simple since the dress and the ornaments are quite rich in design and I thought anything bigger will be an over-kill.

The hair I am wearing here was just released by a good friend of mine and also my model student in a model academy I am teaching in. She owns a store that sells photo studios, backdrop texute and hair called “Crystal Line” in a Japanese sim. She developed this hair together with a Japanese hair creator. It’s a intricately woven updo and comes with glowing pearl ornaments that can be removed so you can wear the hair with and without the pearls. In the pictures here, I have worn it so I can show you what it looks like.

I know this is a bit of a side track, but she sells packs of textures that you can load in any photo studio you have in-world for super low prices of 10L and 15L for a pack of 20 sheets of texture, so if you are looking for additional texture, her store might be worth a peep.

I Love Bax Coen Accessories!

I got this notecard that said Bax Boots have come up with an updated version of the red and black ankle boots that I had already bought when they first came out. But it also said, those who had the earlier versions could come to the store to get them updated. Oh nice! 😀

So I tp’d to the store and after happily getting mine updated for free, I found some cool accessories. I knew the store had bangles from some time ago but the ones in the store now were called “Bax Flower Bracelets” and came in four colour types; brown, gray, red and special. Each of these had diamonds that could be hidden or shown and also colour change features where you can change the colours in the colour range. So if you got the red one, you could change it to different shades of red, such as bordeau, Venetian (a Ferrari red like bright red), rust, etc. Oh how nice again! The “Special” by the way, had colours like purple, turquoise, orange, etc.

In general, I love love love bangles. They add colour to the looks and are big enough to be noticed so I can play with colours using bangles. But what often happens is, I may find a red bangle but when I wear it, I find that it’s not THAT red that I am looking for. This is so annoying. But with these sets, I can probably choose the red closer to the one I am looking for!

Bax Boots also had a line-up of resizable prim belts that matched the colour of the boots available with exactly the same colour names. Here I used the “Silver Brocade” boots and belt with white bangles which was a colour that was available in the “gray colour set.” The outfit is something I had, “Lili Black” from Giusia Creations, but I used it as a short pants suit without using the prim skirt. I love the simplicity of this with only a ruffled neck and the rest being just black. It brings out the accessories in a styling case like this one where I want to focus on these accessory items.

The gloves I am wearing here came in the “Lili Black” set. But it was very well made and I loved matching them with other outfits. So to make it easier to use them when I wanted to, I just made a copy of these gloves and added it to my “gloves” folder. The hat here comes with this hair from Exxess. It’s probably meant to be worn for more RP-like looks as it’s called “Black Widow” but I like to wear this with more regular clothes like the one I have today.

A Sweet New Release From AnnaH

AnnaH Whitfield has come up with a sweeeeeet new release called “Camila” for her AnnaH stores. It comes in black, red and pale blue, which I am wearing here, and it’s like a balloon shaped one piece outfit with two ribbons aligned one on top of the other on the back of the skirt. It is simply so sweet!

So…I made a bit of a fantasy look and lots of fun photo shooting it as you can see from the pictures below.

But AnnaH is not only about sweet outfits. Just take a look at “Rita.” A mermaid gown in VERY deep purple that looks like velvet. It’s a simple and classic design but has a large ribbon with the same material on the left side of your waist that forms a nice accent. This gown will be fit for any ballroom party.

Alba Fashion: Awesome Italian Fashion At A Reasonable Price!

I was one of the models in “the Best of Italia presents Autumn Charm 2″ show that was shown on September 24th with Alba Fashion, Angel Skins, Anubis Style, !B Fashion, Cindy Looby, Clio pret a porter, CR Fashion, Heart Code, Libellula Burt, Sartoria Italiana and Toku Design.

The outfits were amazing!! I have always been a great fan of Italian designers but again, my love for Italian designs was renewed and even reinforced. And the stage was just awesome!! It was like an ancient Roman theatre with gorgeous texture used. I was so impressed that I took a simple snapshot.

Right after the show, after all the excitement had somewhat subsided, I visited the main store of one of the designers that was in the show; Alba Fashion. The store was a lovely sweet store with a big garden with charming flowers in the frontal area. And inside, it was even more lovely! I had always liked the outfits that alba2 Rossini made. They are, in general, very feminine with a great sense for designing but what I like about her designs is that they are so versatile. She has charming outfits full of flowers but then she will also have others that are more simple in texture and cool looking. The prices for the outfits is another thing that is so impressive. You would assume you’d be paying a lot more for outfits like this, but her outfits only cost around L$175 – 200!! I was expecting to pay at least double these prices!

So let me show you some of the outfits. It doesn’t even serve her right to only show three as her outfits are all so different but it’s still better than only showing one.

The first one is a gown. This gown was a lovely pale moss green gown and for some reason, I wanted to wear this with a very couture look, which is why I chose this particular skin and hair. It will be a lovely gown to wear to a party and look very “classy”.

Alba Fashion – Aglaia

The next one is a cocktail dress which I absolutely loved. Paying L$175 for this outfit made me feel like I was a rip off!!

Alba Fashion – Black with abstract rose silk belt

And the third one is a zebra textured outfit which I also loved!

Freda’s Autumn Line

Well i did promise to blog about Freda’s Autumn line that has just been released 2 days ago.  Some great outfits, but i chose to blog about these two.

this is a really fun Jumpsuit.  It can look great without the prim attachments too, but the prim top adds a fun look to it….. great for catching crumbs from the mid-afternoon biscuits too!
I love the top part of the jumpsuit, and a really cute little striped number to go under it, that is ever so slightly sheer – gives it that naughty touch!
hair:  Minnu
skin: Blowpop
I also really loved this Lace dress.  It felt quite Spanish to me so i teamed it with this spanish style hair i picked up at the Hair Expo.
I couldnt resist wearing my new stockings from Stiletto Moody’s ‘Lucky’ range.  very sexy….

Perfectly Matched New Releases

My best SL friend makes jewelries. No….that’s wrong. She makes a LOT of things and jewelries is only one of such creations compared to me who never seem to learn anything about building aside from fiddling around with some basic shapes.

Anyway, she has a jewelry store called “Golden Flower” and she just came up with a new release called “Catherine Set”, a very bold and modern set of a necklace, bracelet and earrings that would look fab if matched with outfits that had a wide neck/shoulder opening. I had been looking for something like this (alas, I can’t build one myself) and the moment I saw the set, another new release immediately came to my mind.

The “Mosaic” outfit by Mami Jewell of the Styles of edo! (I am sure you could see a light bulb appear above my head at this moment. DING!)

So I immediately dug into my inventory and pull my “Mosaic” out and tried it on with this “Catherine Set”. It’s a bit hard to see in the pics but this “Catherine Set” is a collection of diamond shapes that has an almost metallic shine to it and “Mosaic” uses a unique texture that gives the whole outfit a very metallic look also.

Aha! Perfect!!

“Mosaic” has a delcate scarf that goes around your neck with two strips of the material fall at the back but I was feeling like I wanted something with a little more impact. This llok was exactly what I wanted. Nice!

At this point my friend, Dementia Wylie, says “oh those are colour change btw. So have fun matching them.”

Oooooooooooh. How nice! I sure will have fun!
